Preview of Basilisk, my personal favorite of my risograph comics, and the project all my other recent medieval-inspired art descends from.
Styled after medieval illuminated manuscripts and printed using a custom color palette requiring 5 risograph inks (including metallic gold), Basilisk asks the question: what would drive a teenage girl to create a monster?

Maul x Kilindi one-shot
Young Maul and young Kilindi. Two dreams and a conversation by the sea.
Teens being teens even though they are in a karking paramilitary school for kids (SW universe is very dark but we get the mickey mouse ice cream flavor in most canon).
Kinda had a scene in my head while doing character research for Maul for an OC fic and I had to do this. It's actually some months since I drafted it? Over the weekend I finally did a final edit and called it good.

Thank you for reading through and for your hearts going out for little maul, thank you for catching on my lack of character motivation, now I love Kilindi even more (and will cry harder thinking about The Wrath now thank you very much), and thank you for the consideration of thematic resonance, this time I am writing them very consciously haha
Trying to find a gif of Kilindi and found this very soft thing I wrote to (sorta) commemorate my own little Kilindi.
When I finished writing this, it felt like a tiny jar of childhood memories was unscrewed by some gentle hands, and instead of losing the feelings, they were free to become a thing of their own.

This is kinda a out of character situation between the mini oc and Maul, but I wanted to do something fun while writting the fic, which is kinda angsty. So, doing this felt like a breath of air.

I found out during our department DEI committee meeting today that the major federal granting agencies (e.g., NSF, NIH) now have "lists of banned words" that, if found, can cause your grant application to basically go into the shredder.
Among the words the government really hates is "transition" (because RaDiCal GenDEr IdEolOGiEs!). Our committee members are all chemists. If you want to study liquid-vapor phase transitions, you're screwed. Transition states in a chemical reaction? Nope.
I'm a mass spectrometrist. My little corner of the analytical chemistryverse uses a technique called "multiple reaction monitoring", where your instrument is simultaneously monitoring a precursor ion and a certain fragment. That specific-combination-of-ions is called a transition.
...I literally can't even talk about fucking mass spectrometry.
