One of the ways to create a smoother side edge, when working with single crochet stitches is to eliminate the turning chain completely, and work a chainless single crochet. INSTRUCTIONS: Do Not Chain Remove the hook from the woking loop - to eliminate the twist of the loop Turn work, then re-insert hook back into the stitch.
