Playing with play doh is a great way to do this, along with threading activities like the one shown here, and using tongs or squeezing clothespins! • The activity in this video just uses cut up plastic straws and pipe cleaners (check for both of these at your local dollar store). I used masking tape to secure the pipe cleaners to a clipboard. You could even put the straws into a baggie and bring this activity in the car for a road trip! • Share this with a friend and let me know in the comments if you think you'll give it a try! • • • #finemotorskills #earlyliteracy #prewriting #earlychildhood #colormatching #travelactivities #travelingwithkids #toddleractivites #makelearningfun #finemotoractivity #otforkids #momhack #motherhoodtips #parentingtips #mamaofthree | Melissa | EASY Toddler & Kids Activity Ideas

7.3K views · 8.1K reactions | Tummy time is crucial for your baby’s development! When your baby spends time on their tummy, they’re strengthening important muscles, especially in their neck, shoulders, and back, which are essential for rolling over, sitting up, crawling, and eventually walking. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), tummy time also helps prevent positional plagiocephaly, or flat spots on the back of your baby’s head . But we know that some babies aren’t always fans of tummy time, so here’s how you can make it more fun: How to Make Tummy Time More Fun: 1. Use Toys for Engagement: Place colorful or interactive toys within your baby’s reach to grab their attention and motivate them to lift their head and move around. 2. Join the Fun: Get down on the floor with your baby! Lying face-to-face with your baby or interacting with them while they’re on their tummy can make the experience more enjoyable. 3. Tummy Time on You: Try doing tummy time on your chest. When your baby lies on your chest, they’ll love looking at your face, and it makes tummy time a great bonding experience. 4. Play Music or Sing: Babies love sounds! Playing gentle music or singing to them during tummy time can keep them entertained and relaxed. 5. Start Small and Build Up: If your baby struggles with tummy time, start with short sessions—just 1-2 minutes at a time—and gradually increase as they get stronger. How Often Should You Do Tummy Time? According to pediatric guidelines, aim for 3-5 minutes of tummy time, 2-3 times a day, and increase the duration as your baby grows and gets stronger . Tummy time is an important part of helping your baby reach their developmental milestones, but it doesn’t have to be a struggle! With a little creativity and fun, tummy time can become something both you and your baby look forward to. ✨ For more tips on your baby’s development, follow me and check out my blog! ✨ #TummyTime #BabyDevelopment #NewParentTips #RN #AAP #ParentingJourney | Anna Kogan, MN, RN, CBS | pregnancy & postpartum

265K views · 9.6K reactions | We’ll be the first to tell you that “sleep begets sleep”, however, there IS such a thing as too much daytime sleep (and if it is happening, it can impact nighttime sleep). Every baby is different—some have higher sleep needs and some have lower sleep needs. The trick is to help your baby optimize their daytime sleep, so you know the amount that they do best with. This can be tricky (and why working with a sleep consultant is so valuable!!) however, the averages below can be a great place to start. In general, we want to consider capping daytime sleep if it’s going over: ⭐️ Newborn (0-3 Months): 8 Hours ⭐️ 3 Months: 5 Hours ⭐️ 4 Months: 4.5 Hours ⭐️ 5 Months: 4 Hours ⭐️ 6-12 Months: 3.5 Hours ⭐️ 12+ Months: 2.5 Hours Again, these numbers are just averages! If you notice your baby does well with a little more or a little less daytime sleep and your nights are working, no need to change things up! Each baby is unique and you know your little one best! ❤️ Did you know I have FREE Ultimate Naps Guide? ✨ Comment “NAP GUIDE” and I’ll send you the link to download! 👇💕 #naptime #babynaps #babysleep #babysleepconsultant #sleeplearning #sleeptraining #thepeacefulsleeper | Chrissy Lawler, MS, LMFT, Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant

If you already have magnetic letters and a magnetic wand, this is such a quick and fun activity to set up for your little one! - I used out laundry basket and a fitted sheet to make the “ice fishing hole” - I tossed the magnetic letters and numbers in the basket - tied the magnetic wand to a wooden spoon - wrote the letters and numbers on a piece of paper and taped it to a baking sheet That’s it! Have fun fishing 🎣 #alphabetfishing #alphabet #learningletters #preschoolathome #preschoolactivities #toddleractivities #winteractivitiesfortoddlers #playbasedlearning | Carly Lewis

116K views · 10K reactions | TOP 3 POST OF 2024 👏🏻 Did you know that you can use an open cup from birth on? This is my 4-month old learning to master his open cup drinking skills. Two Cochrane reviews show that preemies randomized to cup feedings (vs bottle) were significantly more likely to be fully breastfed on discharge home.👍 Pro Tip: if you are having to supplement at birth, using a cup to feed the baby can help prevent nipple or flow preference which will help continue to foster a successful breastfeeding relationship. Benefits: ✅ Freedom to move tongue similar to the “suckle” reflex done while breastfeeding ✅ Ability for infant to pace own feeding Here are tips from La Leche League on how to cup feed: 👉 Sit your awake baby upright on your lap, supported behind her neck and shoulders by your arm or hand. 👉 Place the rim of the cup on her lower lip and tilt the cup until the milk approaches her lip. Her tongue will explore and find the liquid. She will then lap or sip the milk. On the first few attempts, this may take a few minutes. You might want to use a bib or cloth to catch spills, until you’ve got some experience of feeding this way! 👉 Don’t pour the milk into your baby’s mouth. Keep the level constantly by her lower lip and allow her to rest and pause while drinking, but do not remove the cup. 👉 When she has finished, she will let you know by turning her head away, or by other obvious cues. 👉 To learn how to cup feed, try practicing with another adult first – you will quickly work out how far you need to tip the liquid to avoid frustration or spills! Have you guys ever heard of cup feeding and have you done it? Comment “cup” and I’ll send you a link to these maymom feeding cups we love | Cinthia Scott ✨ Pediatric RD, IBCLC
