This one was so fun for both my toddler and preschooler! 🙌🏻 To recreate this activity, use empty paper towel rolls to make the “leaves” on the tree. We used cardstock paper to draw or print a tree stump. Have your kids dip the bottom of the rolls in the paint and place them on the tree! Recycled Pumpkin Candle Holder | Recycled Pumpkin Candle Holder | By Creating Through Chaos | Hey everybody it's Janice. We're going to start this project off with an empty toilet paper roll. So the first thing I'm going to do is take my tea light and I'm going to set it on the outside of the candle holder to figure out about how far it needed to go down in. Then I'm going to make a mark with it with a pencil and then I'm going to run a nice thick bead of glue around the inside of the toilet paper roll where I made that mark. And that is going to be what holds the tea light in. So as you can see it's kind of like a little shelf. And then you can pop your tea light in. And that is going to hold it up into it. Next we're just going to take our hot glue gun and go around the whole top of it to make candle drips. So you're just going to take your glue gun and run it around and make glue lines all the way around the whole top of the toilet paper roll. And as you can see it looks like little glue drips. And once it dries it will look really like glue drips. And to get rid of any strings you can just use your hot glue gun real quick and it will get rid of the excess strings on it. So now we're going to start by painting the tea light orange and I did a couple of coats on that. And then we're going to paint the toilet paper holder. We were painting the tea light while we were letting this dry. So first I'm going to start and paint the inside where that little shelf is. So I'm just going to put a quick coat of paint around that. And then I'm going to paint the whole outside of the toilet paper holder. Toilet paper all. Once the paint was all dry I'm just going to take a pencil and I'm going to draw out his face. So I'm just going to do two simple triangles for his eyes. One simple triangle for his nose and then I'm just going to kind of do like a zigzag line for his mouth. Nothing fancy. No crazy jack-o-lantern faces. Just something very simple. Then I'm going to take a very thin paint brush or you can use a paint pen or marker or you could even use a sharpie to do this. And I'm just going to paint out his eyes and the nose and the mouth with some black paint. I wanted to keep the design super simple so that it was easy for everybody to do. I mean we can all draw a triangle and we can definitely all draw a zigzag line. So I think that just made it easier for everybody including myself. So I'm just like I said taking that really thin liner brush and just following the marks that I made with my pencil. And the best part about doing it with a pencil is that once you get it all painted if you missed any of the pencil marks or there any's left you can just use a little bit of an the back of an eraser and Get rid of those lines. But this should just paint right over all of them. And I think this is already turning out so super cute. And I absolutely love the way the snowman one came out so I know that this is going to be just as cute. So next I just took my pencil and I dipped it in some white paint. I'm going to put a dot on either side of his eyes. And as you can see I gave him some eyebrows. Um I have an issue with like I don't know. I want them all to have eyebrows. So I just did two lines at the top and painted those black. Next I'm taking that same liner brush. With some white paint and I just put a little line on either side of his eyes and a little bit on the nose. Just to kind of give him a little bit more of you know facial features and give him a cute look. Next you can pop your candle right in the top and turn it on. How cute is that? So next I decided that I really wanted him to have a little bit more possess. So I'm going to take some of that enchanted shimmer. You can get this at Hobby Lobby or Michael's. And it's just like a glitter paint essentially and I'm going to paint the entire thing including the little tea light and this is just going to kind of give him like a more of a whimsical look and I think that that just really brought him completely to life look how cute that is so I'm going to allow all that to dry like I said I'm going to add some to the tea light because I really wanted that to match and this also will help seal in the paint because it's kind of access like a sealer because it's almost like a clear coat with glitter in it is how I would describe it could also use like sparkle mod podge that would work great too and look how adorable this is and you pop your little candle in and you can leave it just like this if you wanted to but I wanted him to have like a little stand so I had this wooden star it's just like a thin wooden star and I'm going to paint that black and then I'm going to add some enchanted shimmer onto that as well and give that nice sparkly look And how cute is that? Next I'm going to take that pumpkin and I'm going to run a bead of glue around the bottom of it and I'm going to pop that right into the center of that star. And this is just going to give him a cute little base to stand on. And I think it just looks so cute already. And then I had this ribbon. I think it was from Joanne's. It's like a purple, a black, and you know just like a Halloween ribbon kind of like braided together I guess. And it has like a Y in it. You can use any kind of ribbon that you want but you see how it's like purple, orange, black. It's just the colors of you know Halloween. And I just hot glued that right to the bottom of the toilet paper roll. Right where it met the star. Just to kind of give it a little bit more of a design down there and it didn't look so plain. And I think that was the perfect final touch. Next I'm going to add the tea light in and drop that right in its holder. And that is it. This project is finished. I think this turned out so super cute and I love it. Thank you guys for watching. I hope this inspires you to make one and as always, don't forget to spread the chaos.
