Peter Balakian (13 de junio 1951 in Teaneck, New Jersey, SUA) es un scriptor, poeta, e historico armenie-statounitese, e un ganiator del Premio Pulitzer e le Premio Raphael Lemkin.

Peter Balakian ha nascite in 1951 in un familia de origine armenie. Ille ha un doctorato in civilisation statounitese e occupa un professorato de Scientias Human al Universitate Colgate.

Un parte importante de su opera tracta del genocidio ottoman contra le armenios de 1915. Assi es que in 1997, Balakian ha publicate Black Dog of Fate (Can Nigre de Fato)[1], le conto del evelia de su identitate armenie sequente un inquesta familial[2].

Su granoncle esseva le archiepiscopo Krikor Balakian.
