It's a very quick and easy gift that you can make for anyone. You'll start by cutting a scrap piece of lining or batting 13 inches long by three fourths of an inch wide. Adding this lining is actually optional but I like to do it to make the keychain feel more sturdy. Next, cut one piece of your main fabric that is 14 inches long by three and a half inches wide. This is what your piece should look like once it's all cut out. Next, fold both sides of the fabric inwards so that they meet in the middle and iron that down in place. Now open the folds back up and place your lining piece inside at the top edge of the fold. Fold those pieces back over and iron them in place. Fold the fabric in half again and iron this piece down. Now you'll have a long strip of fabric that looks like this. Now you'll just need one lobster clasp for this project and I just get mine in bulk on Amazon. Slide your lobster clasp onto your fabric and put two clips around it to hold it in place. Now just add two more clips on other sides of the fabric to hold that down. Open up each end of the fabric piece pulling down your lining fabric. Clip it in place and then open up the ends. Fold these pieces onto each other right sides together making sure the fabric isn't twisted. Clip those pieces in place and sew a straight stitch that is half an inch of seam allowance. Finger press that seam open, unclip, and press your lining pieces down and then fold your fabric back to how it was. Fold and clip the open seams. Sew a straight stitch all the way around the keychain taking out your clips and moving the lobster clasp whenever you need to. And make sure to back stitch when you start and finish. Now do the exact same thing on the other side. Clip your threads as you go. This is how it should look so far and the next step we're going to do is find that seam that we originally sewed. Grab your lobster clasp and put it right in that seam and sew a straight stitch right across. I like to use a zipper foot for this part because it makes it easier to sew with a lobster clasp in the way. Sew a second straight stitch and for this I just switch back to my normal foot since the lobster clasp won't be in the way. This is the finished product. I think it's such a cute gift for anyone in your family or your friends. It's so cute and it's super easy and quick to make and you also don't need a lot of fabric for it so it can be really cheap too. I hope you enjoy this video and let me know if you want more tutorials.
