Sometimes (especially if there's trauma to an area of the body) the muscles say "no thanks" so it's up to us to mindfully move so the muscles do what they are designed to do...work! Otherwise, the joint does what it isn't supposed to do and pain happens."

How to build unilateral strength - single leg squat edition.
Building single leg strength: squat focus! • ⁣ I often get asked if muscles imbalances should be a concern. And the answer is it depends. For sports, symmetrical strength & muscle performance is important especially after things like QCL surgery. But a 1.4% difference in terms average adult recorded by a machine with lots of room for error? Please. Don’t stress. HOWEVER. Single leg strength IS important. If you walk, you should be training single leg strength in SOME capacity. If you’re an athlete - it’s a no brainer. ⛓The ability to perform a single leg squat effectively can say a lot about how someone moves.
