HAPPY FACE® Orange Potentilla
It’s been a very cold, very snowy winter here in Michigan. A couple weeks ago our temperatures dropped to below 0 degrees Fahrenheit! 🥶 While extreme cold is not ideal for our gardens, some plants fare better through cold weather than others. We refer to these plants as super cold hardy. Pictured here is HAPPY FACE® Orange Potentilla. This native shrub holds up impressively to cold temperatures, so much so that it is hardy down to zone 2!

Probably my favorite thing about Heptacodium is its peeling bark. I’ve been training this shrub into tree form for a couple of years now. Every fall I come out & give the bottom branches a significant trim so that you can see more of the beautiful peeling bark and the stems.⁠ ⁠ This is the Temple of Bloom® Heptacodium which we planted about 2 years ago.
