# JORMUNGANDR- Norse myth: a hideous enormous snake that was able to wrap around the world and grasp his own tail. It was the son of Loki and his archenemy was Thor.

Jörmungandr was concepted based off the high-vis work of Jose Cabrera (https://www.artstation.com/thrax) and was a character to design, experimenting with various sea creatures, and eventually settling on a more classic snake design, that was meant to be threatening but also welcoming. The final design was worked and reworked closely with Raf Grassetti (https://www.artstation.com/artwork/1eVZo).

This is my take on the old Norse myth of Thor's Fishing Trip: "Thor goes fishing with the giant Hymer. Thor prepares a strong line and a large hook and baits it with an ox head, which Jörmungandr bites. Thor pulls the serpent from the water, and the two face one another. Hymer goes pale with fear, and as Thor grabs his hammer to kill the serpent, the giant cuts the line, leaving the serpent to sink beneath the waves. "
