Johanna Gezina van Gogh-Bonger (4 October 1862 – 2 September 1925) was the wife of Theo van Gogh, art dealer, and the sister-in-law of the painter Vincent van Gogh and key player in the growth of Vincent's fame. She was to find and translate all the famous letters of Vincent.

VAN GOGH LETTER | This letter, written in March 1883 while Vincent van Gogh was living in The Hague, is addressed Anthon van Rappard. In it, van Gogh describes his growing interest in lithography. Further on, the artist discusses what he has been reading, including Charles Dickens's novella "The Haunted Man": "There is no writer who is as much a painter and artist in black and white than Dickens."
Teo and his wife decided to name their first child , and Vincent Van Gogh Almond Branches in Bloom moved by this gesture as evidenced by a letter written to his mother , " I immediately started a canvas for the son of Theo , to hang in their bedroom bed , blue sky ... a canvas on which to stand out great branches of white almond blossom " ( Letter 627- St. Rémy , February 20, 1890 )

La Mousmé also known as La Mousmé, Sitting in a Cane Chair, Half-Figure (with a branch of oleander) was painted by Vincent van Gogh in 1888 while living in Arles, which Van Gogh dubbed "the Japan of the south". Retreating from the city, he hoped that his time in Arles would evoke in his work the simple, yet dramatic expression of Japanese art.
