Is The Term Appropriate Play, Appropriate?
Do you use the term appropriate play as a special education teacher or occupational therapist? It is a used far too often but I am working on getting away from using it and in this post I share why. Appropriate play is also referred to as functional play. Both words, in my opinion, are synonymous. When I think about play I always think about all the fine motor, bilateral coordination skills, and language concepts we could target but I have realized play is so much more than that.
