we sold our car: 3 month update!
my bf and I earn over $300k combined and recently sold one of our cars to become a one-car household... ...and that angered a lot of people for some reason 🤔 but 3 months later, it's still working well for us! it helps a lot that I have the option to work from home, and that we live within two miles of grocery stores & @orangetheory financially, we're saving a ton of money that was previously going toward my partner's car payment and pricey Tesla insurance 👀 I know this isn't for everyone (especially in the US), but I'm curious -- would you ever consider downgrading/selling one of your cars?
how I prioritize spending my $170k salary ✨
I recently shared a couple of controversial 🥵🔥 posts where I talked about what I try *not* to spend money on. A lot of people seemed to think that if I'm not spending money on mani/pedis or amazon prime, then I must be depriving myself of ~everything~ and living a very sad life. First of all, I want to push back on the idea that you need to spend lots of money on things to be happy. Today's hyperconsumerism culture is relatively new, and for generations before us, people found ways to be happy without buying new things all the time (this is assuming your basic physical needs such as shelter & food are being met). The truth is that I'm just very selective with what I spend my money on. If I know something won't add value to my life, I'll try not to spend money on it.

the real reason I save money 💰
Let's not forget that many of the financial rights we now take for granted in the US were only established not so long ago: 💸 1963: Women are federally protected from wage discrimination 🏠 1974: Women can buy a home, without a male co-signer 💳 1974: Women can apply for a credit card or a loan on their own, without a male co-signer 🍼 1978: Employers can no longer discriminate against women due to pregnancy or childbirth 🏦 1988: Women can get a business loan, without a male co-signer And a woman's right to vote was codified just over 100 years ago, in 1920. On election day today, please exercise your rights & vote!

I REFUSE TO PAY FOR:
☕️ coffee shop drinks: (this one is kind of cheating because I don't drink coffee or tea in the first place 🤫) 📱 new, full-price tech: I have never bought a phone or laptop at full-price. I always buy refurbished, secondhand, or heavily discounted tech. 💦 bottled water: I'm the girl who brings her water bottle *everywhere* oops 📚 new books: the library is free! @libby.app is free! 📦 amazon prime: I generally try to keep my amazon purchases to a minimum BUT amazon also gives you free shipping if you spend $25 or more. so when I do buy things off amazon, I just wait until I have $25 or more in items and purchase them all at once to avoid shipping fees 🚐 👛 designer bags or clothes: I have never purchased a luxury/designer item 🤷‍♀️

my financial wins ❤️💸
a few weeks ago, I posted my "museum of financial failures" - a bunch of financial mistakes I've made over the years and the lessons I learned from them. a few people encouraged me to post a financial wins edition too, so these are the accomplishments I'm proud of! and just like last time, I would love for you to share a financial win in the comments! I always find it inspiring and motivational to hear about other people's accomplishments (the big wins AND the small wins)

hit a big milestone with this paycheck routine!
I'm not very good at spending money on myself but I want to "treat myself" for hitting this milestone. As you might know, I've been saying for a *long* time that I'll make the switch from android -> iphone when I hit $300k...but now idk if it's worth it since all I care about is having a good phone camera. Kinda tempted to plan a trip instead 🤪 #goals #personalfinance #finance #womenwhoinvest #investing #invest #investingforbeginners #millenialmoney #travel #creditcards #points #richlife #save #womenandmoney #budget #budgettools #creditscore #financialindependence #journeytofire #financialgoals #debtfreecommunity #millionairemindset #frugal #firecommunity #wealthbuilding #financialfreedom #sinkingfunds #emergencyfund

beauty on a budget 💄💸
I'm all about quality over quantity when it comes to self-care & maintenance. I don't spend money on a lot of things, but I also don't hesitate to spend money on the few things that really bring me value. And this doesn't just apply to beauty & health! Figure out what brings the most value to your life, make an effort to spend money on that, and cut out the rest. I'm always interested in how other people manage their self-care & beauty routines, so please share your financially-conscious beauty tips below! #goals #personalfinance #finance #womenwhoinvest #investing #invest #investingforbeginners #millenialmoney #travel #creditcards #points #richlife #save #womenandmoney #budget #budgettools #creditscore #financialindependence #journeytofire #financialgoals #debtfreecommunity
