#AdventWord | Turn
Each twist and #turn reminds me: ⠀ “He knows the way that I take [and He pays attention to it]. When He has tried me, I will come forth as [refined] gold [pure and luminous].” (Job 23:10) ⠀ #AdventWord #advent #prayerlabyrinth ⠀ [photo: Sheldon | The Society of Mary and Martha]
#AdventWord | Harmony
“He will receive royal honor and will rule as king from His throne. He will also serve as priest … and there will be perfect #harmony between His two roles.” (Zech 6:13) ⠀ Only Jesus can be a completely just and righteous King, ruling with power and majesty -- and at the same time be perfectly merciful and gracious and compassionate priest, interceding on our behalf. In the words of the old carol, “King and God and Sacrifice.” ⠀ #AdventWord #harmony ⠀ [photo: Michał Parzuchowski]
#AdventWord | Grace
Romans 12:6 says, “In His #grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well." The Scripture goes on to urge each of us to do those things -- whatever they are -- to the glory of God and for the benefit of the family of God. What gifts of grace have you been given? How you might use those gifts to honor God and help someone else? ⠀ #AdventWord #advent #grace #dance #ballet ⠀ [photo credit: Oswaldo Ibanez]
#AdventWord | Merry Christmas
“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:10-11) ⠀ Sweet Friends, Merry Christmas! ⠀ #AdventWord @AdventWord #merrychristmas #christmas ⠀ [photo credit: Gareth Harper]
#AdventWord | Go
“The shepherds said to each other, ‘Let’s #go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.’” (Luke 2:15) ⠀ #AdventWord @AdventWord #go [photo: Javier Lluch]
#AdventWord | Pray
One of the most powerful things we can do is to #pray. When a need comes to our attention, we take it to our Father, knowing His heart is big enough, His shoulders are broad enough, to carry the burdens of the world.#AdventWord @AdventWord [photo: James Coleman]
#AdventWord | Water
Sometimes it can feel like we’re drowning… in commitments and responsibilities, in details or in debt, in fear and anxiety, hopelessness and despair. The storms of life threaten to overwhelm us. ⠀ But Jesus comes to us, walking across the #water. ⠀ “‘Do not fear,’ He says. ‘I AM’” -- and at His Word, in an instant, the wind and the waves subside. He reaches down and pulls us to safety… into the Everlasting Arms. ⠀ #AdventWord @AdventWord #advent #water ⠀ [photo: Mourad Saadi]
#AdventWord | Confess
“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.” (Isa 1:18) ⠀ From the BCP: “Most merciful God, we #confess that we have sinned against You.... We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. Have mercy on us and forgive us...” ⠀ #AdventWord #advent #confess #snow ⠀ [photo: Evgeniya Litovchenko]

‪“No more let sin and sorrow grow, Nor thorns infest the ground, He comes to make His blessings flow, Far as the curse is found...”~ Joy to the World‬ ⠀ ‪Remembering all that Jesus has done to redeem and #restore us and reconcile us to God. #AdventWord @AdventWord‬ [photo: igridhs]
#AdventWord | Bless
#Bless the Lord. Thank Him. Praise Him for who He is and all He has done. Bless and be blessed. ⠀ “The Lord will give strength to His people [and] bless His people with peace.”Ps 29:11 ⠀ #AdventWord @AdventWord [photo: spotmatikphoto]
#AdventWord | Lean
“In the night I search for You; in the morning I earnestly seek You…. when You come to judge the earth will people #learn what is right.” (Isa 26:9) ⠀ #AdventWord #advent #learn ⠀ [photo credit: Elena Kharichkina]
#AdventWord | Beloved
“Rescue Your #beloved people. Answer and save us by Your power…” (Psalm 60:5) For God so loved the world… Everywhere you see nativity scenes -- on coffee tables and mantelpieces, Christmas cards and ornaments, front lawns, platforms, store shelves -- let it speak to you: “Beloved. You are beloved. God loves you THIS much!” #AdventWord @AdventWord #advent #beloved #awayinamanger [photo credit: Kevin Carden]
#AdventWord | Gather
Advent reminds us not only that Jesus has come (oh how grateful we are!), but that He is coming again. ⠀ “On that day I will #gather you together and bring you home again.” (Zeph 3:20) ⠀ He’s not willing to enter into eternity without a single one of His beloved. (2 Pet 3:9) ⠀ Sometimes He allows us be part of the gathering process… let’s keep our eyes open to welcome those searching and longing for Him. ⠀ #AdventWord #advent #gather #holly [photo: Annie Sprat]
