Kentucky Log Cabin Build

In December, 2009, Doug and I bought 40 acres of wooded land in south central Kentucky. We soon put a small Amish built shed on the land and finished it enough to make it a nice quiet off-the-grid get away. We have decided to move on up to a real life sized cabin. Our planning began early 2017 and we began construction in October 2018. We are building the Highlander plan designed by Honest Abe Log Homes of Moss, TN. It is a 1320 square foot, three bedroom, chalet style cabin. We added an additional 800 square feet of living space by setting it on a basement that includes a family room, full bathroom, mechanical room and a possible second master bedroom. We also added a porch along the south side of the cabin. Honest Abe’s construction crew will be erecting the cabin. State Line Builders of Burkesville, KY is our general contractor. Stockton Concrete of Albany, KY poured the basement walls, Flat-Lander Concrete, also of Albany poured the basement floor and patio. Bill Troyer of Gradyville, KY has done all the excavation.
