I’m not a painter so mixing colors to make something as beautifully unique as a fall leaf made me a bit nervous, but I am in love with how they turned out. Oh, and I learned a fun fact about leaves! Just as each snowflake is unique and different there are also no two leaves that are identical in the world. So if you use real leaves you will be making one-of-a-kind Clay Leaf Bowls! 🌿 Nicky🌻| eco crafts for my littlies and me! on Instagram: "🍁 Autumn leaf impression bowls 🍁 ✨ Save for a slow autumn craft Clay crafts have taken over my feed lately so I've been itching to try myself ✨ This particular idea had been saved for over a year after I spotted it on @mummy_and_my_three, and it was such a joy to finally create! I used three different air-dry clays from Das Pronto – white, grey, and terracotta. The best leaves I found for imprinting were hydrangea, rudbeckia, laurel, and sugar maple. Leaves with deep, prominent veins are perfect for making strong impressions. I added a wash of watered-down acrylic to one piece, letting the paint settle into the grooves to bring out the details 🍂 A few coats of sealant gave it that beautiful glossy finish. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to create a fall flower candle or a fall leaf candle, so I decided to make both DIY Pressed Leaves and Flower Fall Candles! A shorter candle with pressed fall flowers and a tall candle with pressed fall leaves. Although we won’t have fall colors for a couple of months still (usually around mid to late October, sometimes even early November - I have photos of little Roger Dale’s first fall and the peak fall foliage didn’t arrive until around November 7!), I was still able to find some beautiful options online that were already pressed and ready for crafting!
