Powell and Moya’s Wolfson College, University of Oxford (1968–73) – unusually for concrete buildings of this period – is much loved by members of the college. This important new commission, the Leonard Wolfson Auditorium, creates a new public face for the college. It faced challenges during construction, including the complex geometry of the auditorium’s radial concrete roof beams and the need for very close co-ordination between precast concrete and in-situ work.
