Saints Of The Day ~ *20+C+M+B+23* on Instagram: "I have gotten so many questions about the Chalking of the Door/Epiphany Blessing. I will try and answer them based on things I have read. 1. “If I can’t get chalk at a church, how can I do this?” - Sadly this has become a lost practice in many parishes which has led to most Catholics not knowing this tradition. Chalking the Door for Epiphany- The traditional names of the Magi are Caspar, Malchior, and Balthazar. The doorframe of the home is marked with their initials within the year- 2+0+C+M+B+1+3 as a reminder of the Magi who received God's great welcome when they visited Jesus in his first home. It's a house blessing and a reminder to make the home a place of welcome for all people. Apparently it's not very popular in the US, but is more popular in Europe. We gave these out this morning. Prayer Stations, 3 Kings, Traditional Names, Catholic Education, We Three Kings, Catholic Crafts, House Blessing, Catholic Kids, Twelfth Night
