Traditionally, the MacGyver 2016 fandom celebrates Cairo Day the week of April 14th to coincide with the airdate of the season one finale. After discussion and hearing some feedback, mid-April is not an optimum time for the fandom. This year, Cairo Week will take place June 23rd-29th with brand new prompts submitted by you through this survey Prompt Submissions. The form will be open through Saturday April 12th with voting to follow.

However, we didn't want to totally ignore our fandom history. Watch this space next week for polls, questions, and yes we did share a few bonus prompts for those overachievers who want to take a crack of them.

Thanks MacGyver fandom for always being awesome!

Riley: Imagine your GTO isn't running right, and you can't quite figure out what she needs. What do you do?

Jack: Call Mac and have him fix 'er up.

Bozer: Nope, can't call Mac.

Jack: Why not?

Bozer: He's out of country.

Jack: *laughs* Not without me, he's not. Where are we going?

Riley: Jack, you're not going anywhere. You're working on the GTO, remember?

Jack: Which Mac can help me with when we get back.

Bozer: *rubbing his eyes* Jack, no...

Riley: Call a mechanic. The answer is call a mechanic, Jack.

Jack: Why would I call a mechanic when I have a perfectly good Machanic right here?

Bozer: Now let's say you haven't eaten in days, I'm not home, and you're in desperate need of a sandwich.

Riley: What do you do?

Mac: I call Jack and ask him to bring me a sandwich.

Bozer: Okay, yes. But Jack's not here.

Mac: Where's Jack?

Riley: It's not important where he is. He's gone. He left the country.

Mac: He left the country? Why? Is he okay?

Bozer: Yes, he's fine.

Mac: Well, if he's fine, I don't see why he couldn't bring me a sandwich.

Jack: If you ever got the itch, what would the title of your autobiography be?

Mac: One Man's Trash, Another Man's Treasure: Abandonment Issues and How I Overcame Them.

Jack: *choking up* Oh.

Jack: That's deep.

Jack: I was gonna say The Daltonator, but I feel pretty dumb about it now.

Jack, at 3 AM: Why are any of us here, really?

Zoo Security Guard: Iโ€™m asking about you, specifically.

Riley: You called Mac but you didn't call me?

Jack: Sorry honey, but when you have a crazy idea, you don't call the voice of reason.

Mac, hanging from the ceiling fan: Next time, please do.

Your friendly neighborhood Cairo Day Mods (@improvidus and @impossiblepluto) have been talking. Cairo Day is traditionally celebrated by the MacGyver (2016) fandom during the week of April 14th to coincide with the airdate of the season one finale which takes place on the anniversary of the infamous "We Don't Talk About Cairo"-Mission.

Fans celebrate by writing fanfiction, making fanart, creating gifsets, etc.

Mid to end of April is a busy time for students, teachers, families who might be taking a spring break trip, mods who are in school. With that in mind, we are planning to host a Cairo Day event June 23rd-29th. In the next few days we will begin accepting prompt submissions followed by voting for your favorite prompts.

But we didn't want to let Cairo Day pass unobserved. Taking a look at the voting data of previous years, we gathered the "runner up" prompts that didn't quite make the cut. We will also be hosting some polls and ask games throughout the week. If there is an idea that you have for how you would like to celebrate Cairo Day either in April or in June, let us know

Cairo Reprise ...finally

Jack probably wouldn't be happy that we're celebrating Cairo Day again in August but this is your chance to share any Cairo Day stories, artwork, or gifsets that you weren't able to finish during any of the previous celebration weeks for whatever reason. Maybe life got busy. Maybe you weren't a fan of the show yet.

Check out this post for more information on Cairo Day and a list of all the previous prompts.

And if this reprise came up too quickly, we'd still love to hear about your ideas. Your first chapter, favorite lines, or outlines, this week has always been about getting excited for our show
