Tiki

Tiki culture of mid-century America began when Polynesian-themed bar and restaurant ‘Don the Beachcomber’ opened in Hollywood. Donn Beach (who legally changed his name from Ernest Raymond Beaumont-Gantt) decorated his restaurant with flaming torches, rattan furniture, flower leis and bright colours. Drinks were exotic rum punches called Rhum Rhapsodies which made the restaurant a hot spot for Hollywood's elite & stars well into the 1960s. So popular was the style that it spread across the USA.
