Humanities

At Bernard Zell, humanities play a crucial role in shaping students' identities and students are encouraged to reflect on who they are now and who they would like to be. We believe the ideal of being humane encompasses tolerance and justice. To enhance their understanding, students explore aspects of citizenship, evaluate different societies and their governments, and draw conclusions about their own values and beliefs.

"We learn that we're more the same than we are different." At Bernard Zell, we believe that you can't impact the world if you don't understand it. Today our 4th graders talked with their Poetry Pals from Sacred Heart Schools Chicago and MCC Academy about charity, helping others, poetry and more. Going beyond our school's walls helps broaden students' understanding of other cultures and build welcoming bridges to the larger community.
