Won Gold Medals in 4 x 100 men's freestyle relay and 4 x 200 men's freestyle relay; Silver Medal in 100 meter butterfly; and Bronze Medal in 100 meter freestyle, Olympics, 1968. Won Gold Medals in 100 meter butterfly, 100 meter freestyle, 200 meter butterfly, 200 meter freestyle, 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay, 4 x 100 meter medley relay, and 4 x 200 meter freestyle relay, Olympics, 1972. Holds seven world records in swimming.

Josef Albers - Albers' well-known style of superimposed rectangles and squares of colour have influenced many artists and designers. In this context, his simple abstraction could easily be interpreted as a swimming pool. At the same time, we might draw a connection between perfection of form and the perfection of skills showcased by the Olympic Games.
