Russia/France (1881/1964) a founding member of 2 Russian artistic groups Jack of Diamonds, the more radical Donkey's Tail; first solo show was for one day in Moscow 1911. was influenced by the Georgian artist Niko Pirosmani; 1913 created Rayonism, the first creation of near-abstract art in Russia. one-man show at the Omega Workshops. 1915 left Russia and worked with Sergei Diaghilev in Paris on Ballets Russes. spent the rest of his life in France, the French citizenship
