Here are my current top 5 plants for adding colour to your garden, and because they’re all perennials they’re going to come back every year! Great at the front of a border this is Nepeta Purrsian Blue flowering from may to September, lovely aromatic foliage and loved bees. Looking fantastic in a type of garden is scabious. They make an excellent filler when situated amongst your other plants. Attractive to pollinators and the seeds are loved by birds. Achillea Cerise Queen, perfect for the middle of a border with beautiful pink flowers for months on end and you can divide it every 3 years. Aquilegia Spring Magic This clump-forming perennial grows to about 40cm high with these beautiful Nodding flowers in late spring
Becks Doyle on Instagram: "If you want beautiful, bouncy, cloud-like blooms like these this year then follow my Hydrangea Annabelle tips: - Leave the faded dead heads on all winter and do not prune until Spring after the danger of frosts have passed. - Prune - cut back the dead stems to the lowest first or second pair of strong buds. This often means taking 2/3rds of dead stems away. Don’t worry, it seems harsh but you’ll thank me in the summer. - Support them - in the summer, if the heads become heavy, support them with half round metal plant supports. I always use these as mine would flip over in the first wind/heavy rainstorm. - Water them - Hydrangea Annabelle’s are thirsty and love water, we installed a drip feed irrigation system which waters at dusk and dawn.
