El Cid . Cantar de mio Cid .This MS dates from 1207 AD and is the earliest extant version of this epic poem, written in Old Spanish and held at La Conservado in La Biblioteca Nacional de España. Thought to have been composed around 1100 AD. <:((((><(
Taillefer and La Chanson de Roland, c. 1129 AD Bodleian Library MS. Taillefer was an already renowned minstrel who skillfully juggled his sword and sang the Song of Roland in 1066 AD before William and the outnumbered Norman knights at the Battle of Hastings. When finished he charged the Saxon lines alone and was brutally hacked down. This act of heroism inspired the Normans to victory. <:((((><(

Waldere poem. One of two survivng fragments written in Old English of a lost 10th century epic poem by an unknown author. Found in the binding of a n Elizabethan book that found its way to Denmark after the reformation. The hero in the poem is found in another known 10th century epic about Walter of Aquitaine. <:((((><(
