Alaa Zaghloul
Dr. Alaa Zaghloul is a Research Professor in the field of Environmental Soil Chemistry, at the National Research Centre in Egypt since 32 years. He awarded his B. Sc. and M. Sc. from El-Azhar University in 1982 and 1994 respectively, and his Ph. D. from of Ain Shams University in 1998. He is the vice chairman of the national committee for environmental problems in Egypt, Academy of scientific research and technology (ASRT) and Member of the standing committee for the promotion of professors and associate professors at NRC. He gained a wide experience in soil chemistry from an environmental prospective particularly kinetic regimes related to potential toxic elements under varied soil conditions. In 2003 he invented an Electrical Stirred Flow Unit (ESFU) that clarifies the kinetic reactions (available online). He is mainly interested in studying the different reactions that took place in the soil ecosystem particularly those related to clay minerals, iron, aluminum, manganese oxides and humic substances. His is also concerned with the use of kinetic approach to elucidate mechanisms of metal retention and release on clay surfaces. He carried out extensive research on the remediation of potential toxic elements in contaminated soils using novel remediative amendments that reduces contaminants bioavailability in ecosystems. Recently, he acted as PI and co-Pl in some national and international research projects in the field of soil and aquatic pollution. Dr Zaghloul published over than sixty professional articles and chapter in the field of soil chemistry and plant nutrition and participated in many national and international congresses.
