It also analyzes whether outsourcing has an impact on organizational performance from financial and non-financial perspectives. To do so, an important European tourist destination is analyzed. The findings suggest that the majority of the strategic dimensions influence the hotel's level of outsourcing. The defensiveness and proactive dimensions are positively related to the level of outsourcing, whereas the competitive analysis and competitive aggressiveness dimensions influence it negatively. In addition, the riskiness dimension has a positive influence, whereas the dimension related to futurity does not influence the level of outsourcing. A positive and significant relationship is found between outsourcing and financial performance, whereas for non-financial performance, the relationship is not significant.

Even though the research community has been working extensively on this subject, there has not been a consensus on what indicators to use to measure circularity in the agri-food industry so far. The aim of this paper is to highlight the circular economy (CE) indicators used in the agri-food sector, based on scientific literature and practice, so as to identify those that could assess circularity in olive oil mills. Furthermore, the project aims to develop a tool that will be able to assess the success of CE strategies and remove some of the ambiguity surrounding CE in practice. Due to the uncontrolled disposal of waste from olive mills, the Mediterranean countries that produce the majority of olive oil have t...

However, the current conditions of the globalized market for agricultural products and meat products specifically, are pointing towards a need for further improvements to be made regarding the competitiveness of pig-farming in Greece. It is therefore considered essential to financially support and strengthen the infrastructure of pig holdings, with the aim of enhancing their level of productivity and economicity. A survey of the financial and zootechnical performance of pig holdings and the creation of clusters of holdings that follow a similar pattern (typology) can assist in taking the appropriate investment decisions, and implementing more rational financing schemes. The objective of this paper is to formulate financing proposals for the restructuring of Greek pig farms, based on the latter's performance in relation to various qualitative, financial and zootechnical parameters. The use of cluster analysis has highlighted five clusters of pig holdings with specific financial operations and a particular zootechnical performance. From an analysis of the typology, the need arises to modernize the pig farms, focusing on improvements to their facilities and mechanological equipment. The installation of automated animal feed supply systems is considered essential, since it will improve the quality of animal feed, lead to a reduction in feed costs, and improve labour efficiency and animal management. Furthermore, the planning and financing of an effective programme for the genetic improvement of pigs in Greece, is expected to lead to a reduction in livestock costs and an increase in the productivity of the animals.

The financial results were derived based on the technical and financial data of pig farms, and then classified according to the type of nutrition. In order to examine the productivity of the production factors used, an analysis was attempted using the Cobb-Douglas production function. After the estimation of this production function, a n attempt was made to investigate the potentials of increasing the final product as well as the marginal productivity of the production factors used, not only through the change of a single factor, but through the simultaneous variation (decrease/increase) of all productivity factors. The simultan eous variation of factors leads to the determination of their optimum combination under given total production costs. The maximization of gross revenue is achieved by the optimum combination of production factors with the same total production cost. Examining the p...

Last decade there is an intense transformation that affect all aspects of the sector like economic, social and environmental. This transformation has to deal with the increasing market globalization, the changes in Common Agriculture Policy and the new social awareness in environmental issues. The aim of this study is to profile and classify goat farms according to their performance using farm-level data that concerns economic, social and environmental sustainability. A combination of multivariate analysis techniques, such as Principal Component Analysis and Cluster Analysis were developed for the aggregation of synthetic indicators and for the creation of farm typologies. According to results, Greek goat farming achieves a low performance in almost all pillars of sustainability, but if the sector adopt sustainable practices there is the margin to become more elastic and competitive.

Based on its structural characteristics and in view of the new requirements and directions of rural policy, it is considered essential for suitable measures to be adopted. The purpose of these measures will be to improve the competitiveness of the agricultural sector and to maintain the economic and social cohesion of Greek agriculture. This paper presents the results of an empirical study, conducted on a sample of 570 farmers through the use of questionnaires, with the aim of exploring the attitudes and views of farmers from the implementation of the new Common European Agricultural Policy (CAP), their level of satisfaction with Rural Policy bodies in managing the growth of their agricultural holdings, as well as the effectiveness of the various developmental financing programmes. Finally, it examines the impact of the farmers' demographi...

The wine sector has been recognized as one of the most significant economic activities in many countries, both in terms of employment and revenue. Financial analysis is crucial to understanding the economic condition of wine production companies and ensuring the sustainability of the industry. Financial ratio analysis provides insights into the factors that determine economic utility, which is increasing profitability, reducing risk, and providing liquidity to economic entities. The main purpose of the paper is to examine and analyze the financial situation of companies active in the wine industry. This will evaluate how well they adapt to the changing market environment. By analyzing the financial profile of the companies, an effort was made to identify the problems that they faced as well as analyzed their efficiency. Cluster analysis would be conducted in order to determine their level of competition. According to the results, large companies were able to pay their current liabilities, fixed costs, interest, dividends, as well as better handle any current losses. The large companies have a high level of solvency and display rapid circulation of their stocks. Small and medium-sized businesses had difficulties meeting their current obligations as well as dealing with potential losses. Indicators measuring the efficiency of the utilization of assets in large and medium-sized enterprises were relatively stable, but a significant over-investment of capital relative to sales could lead to obligations not being met in the future. The debt to assets ratio of large companies was higher than that of medium and small companies, which must be addressed by increasing the firms' liquidity to avoid debt service problems.

It also assesses the economic viability of dairy cattle farms by quantifying the technical efficiency of their processes, with a view to suggesting measures that may serve to improve competitiveness. Results have shown that the mean technical efficiencies estimated for the CRS and VRS DEA approaches are 0.693 and 0.754 respectively, indicating that 30.7% and 21.6% equiproportional decreases in inputs are feasible, given the level of outputs and the production technology.

By applying the K-Mean Cluster analysis methodology, the “profile” of various pig farms was studied, regarding the geographical region, corporate structure, educational level of theirowners and the type of invested capital. The K-Mean Cluster analysis results indicated that there were three clusters of farms that verified its criteria. The farms in first cluster were mainly active in the regions of Western Thessaly and the area of Evia-Viotia. The majority was family farms, which had not yet invested in the modernisation of their fixed assets, and this led to a high cost of use of the said assets. The farms in second cluster were active in the regions of Central Thessaly,Attica and Viotia. They were shareholder enterprises, and attained the best financial results compared to the other clusters. These farms combined a high productivity rate with investments in a more rational exploitation of their fixed assets. The farms in third cluster were active in Eastern Thessaly, Etoloakarnania, Attica and Viotia, and were also shareholder enterprises. They presented a high rate of modernisation, but still required investments of a higher quality in order to improve their performance. Key words: Pig farms, agricultural investments, financing, K-mean cluster analysis.

Despite the importance of goat farming, this sector has experienced economic difficulties due to poor management and increased production costs. The aim of our research is to determine goat farm profitability by surveying goat farmers for revenues, variable costs, and fixed costs of their farms. With the use of Principal Component Analysis, all economic factors contributing to overall production costs are examined, as well as their specific impacts on cost formulation. According to our results, goat farms in Greece are not profitable and they cannot survive without government subsidies. Farm economics and agricultural policies could be leveraged to improve community and environmental outcomes in order for farms to be economically and financially sustainable.

Initially, given some useful general information on a theoretical level, which relate to the way in which agricultural enterprises are organized. Then, there is the way in which was created “Agrologic”, such as the setting up of the tables and the creation of the template. Here's a guide for the application, allowing the user to be able to enter the details of the agricultural enterprise and to manage them. The "Agrologic" is a user friendly application, which can be used by everyone, without a special financial or accounting knowledge. It aims to help farmer in a position to manage the economics of the agricultural unit, because the application can produce the overall results automatically, without the need to calculate.

However, the adoption of organic farming methods per se does not contribute towards improving the financity of agricultural farms. On the contrary, the adoption of innovations helps to increase productivity and profitability. On a macroeconomic level, technological change, as a result of the adoption of innovation, is one of the driving forces for an increase of overall productivity in agriculture. On the level of farms, the economic results of innovative farms are improved, helping them to surpass non-innovative farms, as regards their structure and economic efficiency. This improvement is due to the reduced production costs and the positive impact of innovative behaviour on increasing their economic outcome. The present paper focuses on the development of a typology for a sa...
