In patients with compromised oral health who become infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the virus can enter the systemic circulation of the periodontal pockets via gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) and then mix with saliva, or it can enter the systemic circulation via periodontal capillaries. In this way, the viruses associated with the periodontium can infect cells of the immune system that continually infiltrate the periodontal pocket. The literature reviews used and the observation of randomized studies were from the Bireme, PubMed, SciElo, and LILACS databases from 2007 to March 2021. It is known that the production of acid by oral bacteria dissolves mineral phases on the enamel s... more It is known that the production of acid by oral bacteria dissolves mineral phases on the enamel surface, facilitating the formation of dental caries, with lactic acid being the main cause of caries, followed by acetic and propionic acids. Fluoride-containing materials play an important role in preventing demineralization and remineralization and these are widely used in dentistry. Although the benefits of fluoride in terms of reducing the incidence of dental caries are well established, fluoride cannot prevent caries in all patients; thus, the development of new anti-caries agents with remineralization properties is necessary. Thus, new products are emerging with this purpose and in this article, a material with Surface Pre Reacted Glass ionomer (S-PRG) particles will be addressed, these are produced by the acid-base reaction of fluoroboroaluminosilicate glass and polyacrylic acid and are known to have a potential to release 06 ions, such as Al, B, Na, Si, Sr and F, where these rele...

A healthy aesthetic standard satisfies anyone regardless of sex, age, or social class. The growing interest of patients for a better aesthetic appearance, associated with the significant development of new restorative materials and wide dissemination in the media of this concept of beauty, led to changes in the concepts of dental treatment. This work aimed to demonstrate through a clinical case how biotechnology can help in treatments in a minimally invasive way. For this, a total of 34 articles were analyzed in full, however, 17 were included and discussed in this study. The literature reviews used and the observation of random studies was from the Bireme, PubMed, SciElo, and LILACS databases. It can be concluded in this clinical case that the success of aesthetic treatment is closely linked to the correct indication and knowledge of the dental surgeon in different products on ...

Therefore, dentistry contains many different photoinitiator systems, the most common being the binary camphorquinone and tertiary amine system, and most dental light curing agents are designed to suit the camphorquinone (CQ) absorption range. The alternation of the photoinitiator can cause changes in the values of biomechanical properties, such as degree of conversion, hardness, and biocompatibility. This review contains a comparison of the biomechanical properties of dental composites including different photosensitizers, among others: camphorquinone, phenanthrenequinone, benzophenone, and 1-phenyl-1,2 propanedione, trimethyl benzoyl-diphenylphosphine oxide, benzoyl peroxide. The literature reviews used and the observation of randomized studies were from the Bireme, PubMed, SciElo, and LILACS databases from 2008 to February 2021. Objective: To pres...

They are sensitive points present in tense musculatures, which mechanics stimulations tease an answer which is pain. Among the treatments to the desactivation of this point, there is the dry needling, that consists in acupuncture needles injections in the point, aiming its deactivation. Objective: This study objective is a literature review relative to dry needling. Methods: To the realization of this study, it will be collected scientific articles of database and books, both physical and in Portable Document Format (PDF) and then, this data will be organized and exposed. Conclusion: According to the literary findings, the technique of dry needling presented significant statistical results in most of the studies, being an important tool for the treatment of the trigger point.

Moreover, according to the Brazilian Association of organ transplantation, the number of bone transplants per million population reaches 450 (18,200 transplants). The lack of bone in the alveolar ridge has been a major problem in functional aesthetic recovery in patients who have suffered dentoalveolar trauma, traumatic dental extractions, dental congenital absence, disease involving the maxilla and mandibular. With the emergence of regenerative medicine, the use of stem cells and adult stem cells is a new therapeutic modality with various treatments. Experimentally, tissue regeneration compounds such as periodontal tissue was also demonstrated, showing that AMSC associated with platelet-rich plasma can regenerate alveolar bone, cementum and periodontal ligament eight weeks after implantation. Thus, biomaterials Bio Oss® (Geis...

Conventional Atraumatic Restorative Treatment (TRA) is a carious dentin removal technique where only manual instruments and restoration with the glass ionomer cement are used, in order to reintegrate the dental cavities in relation to their function and aesthetic improvement. Currently, new materials have been introduced to the market with the use of amino acid based products with sodium hydroxide or papain, which are indicated for chemical mechanical removal of caries without the need for anesthesia and rotating equipment. Objective: The present work had as objective to demonstrate through a review of the literature on the evolution and consequent importance of the improvement of caries restorative techniques with the use of papacarie. Methods: A total of 60 articles were found involving treatment by papacarie. Initially, it was held the exclu...

Using simple preventive and interceptive orthodontic procedures such as those aimed at maintaining space or its recovery, control of oral habits, and treatment of cross bite and open bite, can prevent or lessen the severity malocclusion. Thus, the early diagnosis of conditions affecting the normal development of dental occlusion can contribute to significantly reduce the incidence of malocclusions.
