Selfinterest affect both the old and the young, man and woman. It is the problem that strata the socio-political and economic structure of any region especially in Igbo land. The aim of this paper is to empirically investigate the relationship between corruption and self-interest in Igbo leadership using SPSS and correlation test. The study also anchored on two theories: the idealistic theory and the anomie theory. The study revealed that the level of corruption and self-interest among Igbo leaders over the years has become a source of embarrassment to Igbos living outside the country and that corruption and self-interest among Igbo leaders has seriously had significant negative affect on the development and services delivery in Igbo land especially in rural areas. The implication of this study is that economy of Igbos cannot grow fast without zero tolerance in corruption and self-interest. The study recommended that the policies that will enhance economic development and reduce the level of corruption and selfinterest are expected to be encouraged so that the level of economic growth can be improved in Igbo land. The study also suggests that there should be free and fair election in Igbo land and stops the issue of selection so that the issue of corruption and self-interest will reduce drastically. And that the activities or programmes of the anti-corruption agencies in Nigeria such as the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and related Offences Commission (ICPC) should be strengthened.

A descriptive correlational research design was used to investigate the problem in the study. Questionnaire was used to extract information from the participants. Confirmatory factor analysis via principal component method was used to determine the acceptability of each item on proactive personality and entrepreneurial intention scales. The result showed that all the items exceeded the acceptable threshold for retaining items for statistical analysis. Pearson correlation and hierarchical multiple regression tests were used to test the hypothesized relationships. Proactive personality was significantly and positively associated with entrepreneurial intention. Employment status and level of student related significantly with proactive personality and entrepreneurial intention. It was observed that employment status significantly moderated the relationship between proactive personality and entrepreneurial intention with the interactive model accounting for 10% of the total variance in entrepreneurial intention. However, student level did not significantly moderate the relationship between proactive personality and entrepreneurial intention with the interactive model accounting for only 0.3% of the total variance in entrepreneurial intention. The findings were consistent with the personality theory of entrepreneurship. The implications and limitations of the study have been discussed.

The study adopted a descriptive study design. Interview schedules were the main instrument under the study. The stakeholders were involved in a feeder management programme whose approach entails assignment of the 638 feeders across the country to specific engineers and their teams. The study found that the stakeholders in KPLC were involved through giving their feedback to the management on the change process and developing of sound procedures necessary to ensure that the changes are effective. The stakeholders were also involved in the piloting phase before the change is rolled out and in giving their views and feedback through meetings. The study however established that there was no involvement of staff in the design phase of the change process. It was concluded that there was good involvement of stakeholders in the execution of change process but poor involvement of stakeholders in the design process of change. For this reason the study recommended KPLC should involve the stakeholders in all aspects of the change management process, more so in the design of the change process and that the change process in KPLC should be documented for reference in future and to assist the organization use the information to improve future change processes.

The study determined from accounting perspective, the environmental consequences of the operation... more The study determined from accounting perspective, the environmental consequences of the operations of oil and gas companies in the Niger-Delta region of Nigeria. The study was motivated by the curiosity to explain what goes on in the Niger-Delta region in the light of environmental degradation and the continuous agitation for a sustainable approach to corporate social responsibility (CSR). The study adopted the ex-post facto research design. Questionnaires were used to collect data from primary sources while relying on previous studies for secondary data. The Yaro Yamani sampling determination technique was applied to a sample size of 300 respondents drawn from a population of three million. Data collected were analysed using population t-test at 95% level of significance. The result shows that the corporate social responsibility strategies employed by the oil and gas companies are not adequate to address the environmental degradation resulting from their operations. These findings agree with Bauelleret al (2011), whose work indicates that the oil and gas companies in an attempt to respond to the needs of vulnerable communities adopt strategies that are largely short-term and unsustainable. The result of this study also aligns with the work of which indicate that the CSR of the oil and gas companies are rather self-serving as they are targeted at corporate image laundering. The study recommends an all-inclusive process of planning and budgeting for projects and programmes after a joint needs assessment. It is also recommended that all CSR projects and programmes be captured in a memorandum of understanding (MOU) and the implementation monitored and reported periodically to all stakeholders. Both international and local statutes regarding environmental protection should be respected and erring companies should be held accountable and appropriately sanctioned.

Before then, most terrorism occurred away from the African continent and most scholars considered acts of terrorism as alien to the peoples culture, ideologies and believes. However, the wave of globalisation has berth terrorism on the African coast where countries like Somalia, Kenya and Nigeria etc have been infested and this has earned them various cliches like 'axis of death'. In reconsiderating the impacts of Boko Haram on world peace, the study attempted a defintion of the concept of terrorism, a general overview of terrorism around the world while zero-in on current issues of Boko Haram terrorism in Nigeria. In the final analysis, the study brings to the fore, the social/phychological, political and economic impacts of Boko Haram terrorism on world peace. It has been concluded that terrorism will continue to be a pain in the back of world peace not only because it has proven to be a successful tool for those who believe in it but also because, belivers in acts of terror are convinced that they are tolling the paths of honor. To curb this, nations of the world must melt into bilateral and multilateral understanding and synergy against it especially now that chemical terrorism is imminent.

Globalization has undoubtedly brought some challenges such as polarization of wealth and poverty,... more Globalization has undoubtedly brought some challenges such as polarization of wealth and poverty, elongation of gap between the North (Developed countries) and South (Developing countries), and erosion of part of powers and activities of the nation-states, it has therefore become imperative for states in the South including Nigeria to reassess its relations with other national governments and transnational actors as international organization and multinational corporations. This is with a view to repositioning itself for these challenges. In an era of globalization, these challenges have unnaturally downplayed multilateralism and in its stead uplifted unilateralism. This is because globalization has heralded such phenomena as marketization and territorialization. It has also evolved strong competition among nation-states. The onus is now on the states in the South including Nigeria to respond to these challenges. Again, such happenings in the international arena as nuclearism, Islamic fundamentalism and climate change phenomenon, which have wider implications for developing country as Nigeria have meant that Nigeria should refocus and reformulate its foreign policy purely from its national interests rather than through the prism of African-centered policy. The paper concludes that the polymorphism of events has made it imperative for Nigeria to work out a counteractive foreign policy that is capable of meeting the challenges posed by globalization.

In this scenario, the thrust is on employment generation for youth-both boys and girls in state. This research work shall examine the challenges of entrepreneurship development in state Jammu and Kashmir. This paper sees entrepreneurship as the process of creating something new with value by devoting the necessary time and effort, with the accompanying financial and social risks, and receiving in return monetary rewards, personal satisfaction and independence. In this era of shrinking economic activities, government should endeavor to provide the necessary infrastructures required for skills acquisition among its citizenry. This is because without technological skills, entrepreneurial spirit which drives economic development through job creation will be lacking. The paper conclude that entrepreneurship is essential for rapid and sustained economic growth but there is urgent need to change the mindset of the Average Jammu and Kashmir especially the youths towards embracing self employment and deemphasize the search for white collar jobs that are non-existent. Entrepreneurship as a means of self employment suffers a number of great challenges", and these challenges are what this research work would identify.

Think tanks in this study considered as 'organizations that produce research products with the aim of creating policy debates, informing decision-makers and making appropriate interventions in the policy process directly/indirectly. The growth of think tanks in Ethiopia accelerated in 1990s owing to the change in the government system from a dictatorship to the current federal arrangement and the Global Go to Think Tanks Report 2011 indicated that there are 25 think-tanks in Ethiopia. In order to investigate the relationship between think-tanks and universities, this study has employed the descriptive type of research and collected primary data from 10 think-tank institutions, two private universities and six public universities of social science education programs. Subsequently, the study found that the collaboration of universities and think tanks in research is mainly based on interactions between individuals where there is no formally established network between universities and think tanks for undertaking collaborative research. Universities based outside the country's capital lack access to information about think tanks to undertake collaborative research. The study also confirmed that collaboration between the two entities in the area of training and education is relatively good. However, it is still more individual-based rather than institution-based. In addition, it was realized that there is relatively good collaboration in the area of policy dialogue, which occurs through conferences, workshops and seminars. Furthermore, it was found that most staffs of think tanks and university departments have not been actively involved in consultancy activities in the fast five years. For few of those university departments that undertook consultancy, above 75 percent worked on their own without seeking collaboration with think tanks. Therefore, developing a strategic framework for universities and think tanks' collaboration and encouraging greater sharing of information between them are very important solutions to promote the collaboration between the two entities in stated four areas in the future.

It examines the character and nature of democracy in West Africa using system theory as a tool of analysis. It also assesses the role of Economic Community for West African State (ECOWAS) in promoting and protecting democracy in West Africa considering various interventions and conferences held to safeguard it. Methodologically, it employs the use of descriptive analysis relying solely on secondary information for data generation and articulation. It discovers that despite all the efforts ECOWAS is making, African leaders are not living up to their mandate. It is in line with this that the research states that the problem remains a systemic one. It thus, recommends that there should be a concerted effort to commit concerned bodies into employing legal means in addressing similar reversal whenever it occurs.

In recent decades there has been a growing international interest on issues pertaining to women. With a full understanding of the unique impact of the war situation on women the international community has put in place laws to safeguard women's rights in those situations. Unfortunately there are a number of difficulties in the enforcement and implementation of these international laws. Denying the existence of the conflict situation, a weak legal framework, patriarchy, gender inequality, impunity, insufficient data and research and other factors will be discussed here as difficulties that counter the enforcement and implementation of international conventions and protocols on gender and women's rights in conflict situations.

This paper dwells on the subject of the application of bilateral negotiations in the resolution o... more This paper dwells on the subject of the application of bilateral negotiations in the resolution of disputes/conflicts, taking the Nigeria-Cameroon dispute over Bakassi as a case in point. It blends perspectives on the bilateralism/negotiation approach with the reality of this case and argues that alternative dispute resolution forms, in this instance, its facilitated negotiation, led to ultimate resolution. Given that dispute/conflict resolution seeks to find solutions acceptable to parties to achieve peaceful coexistence, the question arises as to whether the ICJ's ruling in itself was able to amicably resolve this case? The answer is that the Judgment of October 2002 did not lead immediately to settlement, rather it engendered defiance and ambivalence from Nigeria, leading subsequently to the intervention of stakeholders in the international system, especially Western countries, and particularly the UN and its then Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, who galvanized the UN machinery to institute direct bilateral talks between Nigeria and Cameroon to thrash out their differences. The emergent Mixed Commission and the Greentree Agreement of 2006 ensured the achievement of reconciliation, lasting peace and final resolution along the lines of the ICJ's ruling of 2002.
