The model of fuzzy EOQ that has been developed in this study is intended to accommodate the fuzzy demand. Result of the study shows that the optimal quantity of fuzzy EOQ is influenced by the value of Δ 1 and Δ 2. It was known that the value of order quantity (q) will be increased if the decision-makers getting more optimistic regarding the upper limit of the sales forecast implementation. The model formulation that has been introduced fuzzy number for demand to accommodate uncertainty situation.

The intent of this paper is to demonstrate the application of CFA in logistics research particularly in testing Mentzer et al. (1999) Logistics Service Quality (LSQ) instrument, a scale developed in the United States. This paper displays the value of CFA for scale development and testing with particular reference to dealing with missing data. The study is based on cross-sectoral mail survey of the customers of Third Party Logistics (TPL) providers in the United Kingdom (UK). With some improvement, it demonstrates the generalizability of LSQ scale across industries in the UK.

Hence, business organisations need to be continuously as innovation could promise potential growth and development so as to gain competitive advantage in being ahead in the market. Specifically, supply chain has always been viewed as the most important areas to be innovated as it would be an effective means to gain efficiencies and eliminate accumulating competitive pressures and thus increasing innovations. Thus, the purpose of this study is to present a case study that demonstrates an innovation created in the logistics services, i.e. halal logistics services, as to fulfil the increasing demand of the customers throughout the world particularly the rising number of Muslim population. Research approach: This study uses case study approach to elaborate the implementation of halal logistics practice. In achieving the objective, related literature concerning the halal concept is reviewed and explained to provide better understandings of the concept and how it is applied to logistics services. The emphasis on the innovativeness of this concept is also included. The data for the case study is gained from in-depth interviews with the corporate and operation managers of two leading logistics service providers in Malaysia, who are the subjects of the case. Findings and Originality: This study found new logistics services that are able to fulfil the growing demand of the customers especially the increasing number of Muslims. This is important as these services have taken into consideration several factors such as comprehensive hygiene practices and thus, is also crucial to other customers. However, understanding the basic concept of halal practice and the rationale of its implementation is very crucial before one can commit to its practice. This study contributes to the advancement of knowledge through the elaboration of a case study, which demonstrates the application of halal concept into logistics service practices. Research impact: This study introduces a new concept of halal logistics, which applies the concept of halal into logistics. The needs to initiate more logistics services that are based on halal concept are crucial in meeting the needs of the increasing demand by the customers. Practical impact: The findings provide insights to the practitioners of the importance in implementating halal logistics services. It also indicates the needs for logistics companies to be innovative in creating more halal logistics services to fulfill these demands.

Logistics and transportation were among the most popular areas that used outsourcing during the 1980s and 1990s. Thus, the strategy of employing the third-party logistics (TPL) providers' services has attracted growing interest. However, studies that involve TPL providers have received considerably less academic attention. This paper presents current logistics outsourcing practices of UK firms as well as the trends from 1990 ...

In the Asia Pacific region, the potential for growth is very promising. Despite of the remarkable expansion of the industry; particularly in Malaysia, there has been very little published research in the area of logistics and supply chain resulting in a very limited dissemination of information for the purpose of coordination, learning, advancement and etc. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to examine the issues and challenges faced by the practitioners as well as the relevant parties involved in the industry. By reviewing the logistics and supply chain management literature in Malaysia followed by a preliminary interviews with five organisations from different sectors, this study found four key issues and problems, namely the operational logistics, service response logistics, information flow, and policy-related issues. These issues have been the hindrance for logistics effectiveness in Malaysia. This paper attempts to open up various issues surrounding this complex and fragmented industry. It thus, provided a base for future researchers to examine any aspects of logistics and supply chain management in Malaysia.

In Malaysia, one of significant remanufacturing activities is the automotive remanufacturing or rebuilt commercial vehicle industry. The industry has begun since 1970s, the time when the construction sector was booming. Despite of its importance in bringing to a sustainable development of a country, no studies have been conducted on the effectiveness of the practice in Malaysia. However, the recent problematic issue surrounding the industry has led to the call for this research. The purpose of this study is to explore the effectiveness of the institutional framework of the commercial vehicle rebuilt industry in Malaysia. The results obtained were based on seventeen interviews. All interviews were transcribed and the data were analysed using the content analysis method. The results demonstrated that with the present practice of the institutional framework allows some loopholes within the industry. These loopholes have led to the production of false document and thus excessive number of rebuilt commercial vehicles registered, far greater than the quota given by the Ministry. This issue arose due to unavailability of effective communication mechanisms among the relevant government authorities. This study provides insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the present governance in dealing with the rebuilt commercial vehicle industry in Malaysia. It is important as it opens up various issues that have been lingering within the implementation of the industry.

Research approach: This qualitative study was based on 6 in-depth semi-structured interviews which were carried out with the owners and senior managers of five consultant firms (an architect, quantity surveyors and structural and civil consultants) and the director of a project management firm. The data were analysed using thematic analysis method. Findings and Originality: Although theoretically, a well developed relationship has to go through five phases of relationship development process (awareness, exploration, expansion, commitment and dissolution), the findings reveal that every consultant's relationship with the project management firm appeared to exhibit additional developmental stages to those which are established within the literature. The results revealed that the practices that lead to a successful or failed inter-organisational relationship are greatly influenced by interpersonal factors rather than the organisation's performance-related factors. Research impact: This study has explored various ways in which the cultural values play significant roles in the development of long term relationships among organisations in the construction supply chain. Practical impact: This study brings new dimensions in the context of inter-organisational construction supply chain through the significant use of cultural values, which could be practiced by other supply chains.

Similarly, SMEs in ASEAN are the strength of the ASEAN economies as it accounts more than 96 percent of all enterprises and contributing 50 to 95 percent of employment in many ASEAN Member States (AMSs). The purpose of this paper is to identify various successful practices in other countries that might be beneficial in promoting the SME development in the preparation for ASEAN logistics connectivity. The current situation of the ASEAN is established based on data obtained from the profile of each ASEAN country and several recommendations were made. This study found that different countries adopt different criteria of SMEs causing chaotic regulations and policy implementation. This paper also suggests the implementation of cluster approach as it has been proven to be successful in driving competitiveness among the SMEs in other countries such as Ja...
