In situations of doubletalk the adaptive filter in the acoustic echo canceler might diverge, thereof the need for doubletalk detection. In this paper, an open-loop doubletalk detector based on power spectrum estimation is presented. The detector explores the signal characteristic of speech signals to define a frequency distance measure. The present signals are evaluated by this distance measure, and the measure is compared to a preset threshold. Doubletalk is declared whenever the measure exceeds the threshold. An objective evaluation technique is used to compare the proposed detector with two classic open-loop detectors, the Geigel detector and the open-loop correlation detector. It is shown that the proposed method outperforms the other two in the given evaluation technique.

Court and other justice agency managers, like their executive branch counterparts, are trying to cope with diminished appropria tions. Two research studies and a court improvement project evaluation that were concluded earlier in this decade may help in understanding and dealing with the effects of cutback and in outlining some judicial administration innovations that may expedite the work of courts, while holding the line or reducing costs. The first, The Impact of Fiscal Limitation on Californias Criminal Justice System, analyzes what happened as a result of the adoption of Proposition 13 in 1978. All facets of the criminal justice process from law enforcement to corrections are covered, but this review, except for some general observations, is limited to courts and those closely-linked

For each one you will be expected to write an equation and indicate the type of reaction (composition, decomposition, single replacement, or double replacement). Acid/Base Neutralization: acid + base-> water + ionic compound 1) Many reactions are observed not by dramatic changes in color or gaseous production, but through evidence of bond restructuring with associated energy changes. 2) Combine 5 ml of 6M HCl with 5 ml of 6M NaOH. 3) Feel the test tube. The energy being released is called the heat of neutralization. 4) Write the chemical equation for the above reaction. Water is one of the products. Pour the contents of the test tube down the sink. What is the type of rection?

Physicians (n = 55) at a psychiatric hospital participated in a limited implementation and were provided with training, licenses, and relevant devices. Post-implementation usage data was collected via the software. Additionally, a post-implementation survey was distributed 5 months after the technology was introduced. Results: In the first month, 45 out of 51 (88%) physicians were active users of the technology; however, after the full evaluation period only 53% were still active. The average active user minutes and the average active user lines dictated per month remained consistent throughout the evaluation. The use of speech recognition software within a psychiatric setting is of value to some physicians. Our results indicate a post-implementation reduction in adoption, with stable usage for physicians who remained active users. Future studies to identify characteristics of users and/or technology that contribute to ongoing use would be of value.

The idea { from a voter's perspective { is to combine code voting proposed by Chaum with the cast-as-intended verication mechanism used e.g. in Switzerland (using a personal initialization code, return codes per option, a conrmation code and a nalisation code); while all codes to be entered into the e-voting system by voters are available as QR-Code (i.e. one personalised QR voting code per voting option and one personal conrmation QR-Code). We conduct a user study to evaluate the usability and user experience of such an approach: both the code sheets and the election webpage are based on usability research in this area but adopted for our idea. As our proposal performs good wrt. usability, we discuss how such usable front-ends enable more secure e-voting systems in respect to end-to-end veriability and vote secrecy.

We propose a general model of the election process and define the data flow into the verification process. We also define the purpose and outcome of the verification process and propose some general categories of tests to be performed during the verification. As a guideline for dealing with negative verification outcomes, we propose some general evaluation criteria for assessing the impact and consequences of the encountered problem. Finally, we generalize the proposed process models to the case of hybrid elections, in which multiple voting channels are available simultaneously. The primary target audience of this paper are people in charge of implementing and organizing verifiable elections in practice.
