Resumen: El siguiente trabajo tiene como objetivo conocer el impacto de la robótica educativa en ... more Resumen: El siguiente trabajo tiene como objetivo conocer el impacto de la robótica educativa en las estudiantes de secundaria que participaron en el Proyecto Formación de Formadores en Robótica para Colegios en Áreas Vulnerables en Costa Rica, las jóvenes compitieron en el Segundo Encuentro Nacional de Robótica organizado por el proyecto en el año 2019. En esta competencia los participantes pusieron en práctica sus conocimientos de diseño y programación para resolver los desafíos de la actividad. Esta investigación presenta los resultados de un estudio exploratorio al analizar los datos de las mujeres participantes, se aplicó una encuesta física y posteriormente se realizó un análisis utilizando el lenguaje de programación Python, el cual es un gran apoyo en el área de ciencias de datos.

We present the background and the design and development considerations for an electronic platfor... more We present the background and the design and development considerations for an electronic platform to sell Costa Rican roasted coffee through e-commerce, referred to as crgourmetcoffee.com (https://www.crgourmetcoffee.com). This system is proposed as a solution to mitigate the coffee paradox −phenomenon that makes the coffee prices received by famers in developing countries to be increasingly lower, despite a growing demand for this product. In this regard, crgourmetcoffee.com is aimed at enabling Costa Rican coffee farmers to sell directly its coffee to final consumers in developed countries, eliminating intermediaries in an effort to allow producers to obtain higher price margins.

This study is of a non-probabilistic type, commonly used in exploratory research, which counted with the participation of 122 visitors, 55 women and 67 men, aged between 15 and 79 years, in 6 parks of the central canton of Alajuela, using QGIS tool for the spatial analysis of the data.

And that they so that these favored by means of access to technology that allows them to solve problems that involve the design, construction and programming of robotic models; also that they take advantage of free time in the study of this technology.

Iron has a low solubility in aluminium solid solution even at elevated temperatures and forms bri... more Iron has a low solubility in aluminium solid solution even at elevated temperatures and forms brittle intermetallic phases with needle-like or platelets-like morphology when it is produced by conventional casting technologies. These phases have a detrimental effect on mechanical properties. Therefore with increasing significance of recycling and also amount of aluminium scrap that needs to be recycled, it is necessary to find a promising ways of processing such waste materials. Powder metalurgy leads to intensive microstructural refinement, increases solid solubility of alloying elements and overall to improvement of mechanical properties. Hence, it belongs to promising alternatives for proccesing aluminium materials with increased amount of iron. Aluminium alloy with 17 wt. % iron was prepared by centrifugal atomization and consolidated by spark plasma sintering followed by hot extrusion. The microstructure and phase composition of compact samples as well as mechanical properties were studied. Fine microstructure has been achieved by centrifugal atomization and consolidation by spark plasma sintering in combination with hot extrusion. Compression strength was 565 MPa with remarkable ductility reaching almost 35 %.

This article presents the experience gained in the development and execution of an Intercollegiat... more This article presents the experience gained in the development and execution of an Intercollegiate Robotics Olympiad, as a result of the execution of the Training of Trainers in Robotics for Colleges in Vulnerable Areas of Costa Rica project, as well as the challenges developed and the results obtained by the participating students. This is an inter-institutional project that is developed jointly by the School of Computing of the National University of Costa Rica, the Costa Rican Institute on Drugs (ICD) and the Ministry of Public Education (MEP) of Costa Rica, which is oriented to prepare instructors in the area of robotics at the secondary education level, so that they can train their students in vulnerable regions of Costa Rica. In order to provide them with an option to occupy their free time in positive activities, and thus keep them out of reach the drugs. This training is given through workshops in which they are taught to create robot models using sensors, so they can program different tasks to solve challenges. And in this way they can compete and show their learning in an Olympiad or encounter where teams from the other schools benefited by the project participate.
