The approach documented within this plan focuses on the joint optimization of human performance and technologies, with a focus on instructional theory and design and human factor considerations and methodologies. Recommendations put forth in this report are informed by a review of considerations for the design of instruction and implementation within a virtual environment. Background Accurate self-reported symptomatic toxicity documentation via the Patient-Reported Out... more Background Accurate self-reported symptomatic toxicity documentation via the Patient-Reported Outcomes version of the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (PRO-CTCAE) is essential throughout cancer treatment to ensure safety and understand therapeutic efficacy. However, the capture of accurate toxicities from patients undergoing radiation therapy is challenging because this is generally provided only at the time of scheduled visits. Objective This study seeks to establish the usability and feasibility of a mobile PRO-CTCAE Administration System (mPROS) to capture toxicities related to radiation therapy. Methods English-speaking adult patients who were undergoing radiation therapy for cancer were enrolled and given a brief demonstration of the Say All Your Symptoms (SAYS) and Symptom Tracking Entry Program (STEP) interfaces of the mPROS app, followed by a patient-use phase where patient actions were observed as they navigated mPROS to enter toxicities. The Interactive Story Architecture for Training (ISAT) is designed to address the limitations of ... more The Interactive Story Architecture for Training (ISAT) is designed to address the limitations of computer games for advanced distributed learning (ADL) and to fully realize the potential of games to become engaging and individualized training environments. The central component of the ISAT architecture is an intelligent director agent responsible for individualizing the training experience. To achieve this, the director tracks the trainee's demonstration of knowledge and skills during the training experience. Using that information, the director plays a role similar to that of a schoolhouse trainer, customizing training scenarios to meet individual trainee needs. The director can react to trainee actions within a scenario, dynamically adapting the environment to the learning needs of trainee as well as the dramatic needs of the scene.

The goal of this case series was to determine if VestAid could be used to detect eye-gaze accuracy in a participant exposed to directed energy (DE). Materials and Methods The VestAid results of a participant with DE were compared to an age- and gender-matched healthy control, a participant post-concussion, and a participant with vestibular neuritis. A tablet with VestAid software was utilized to record eye-gaze accuracy and head speed during VORx1 exercises using eye and facial recognition as participants were exposed to 12 visual scenes. Results The participant with DE consistently had difficulty with eye-gaze accuracy when the head was rotated towards the right for all trials. The participant with DE had poor eye-gaze accuracy during all phases of the head turn cycle compared to the control participant (mean 47.91%, [SD = 7.32%] for t...
