Fake news. Discurso de ódio.
In the present study, we analyzed social media content posted by groups in favor of Jair Bolsonaro, developing a discursive production analysis of democracy, disinformation, hatred, and Brazilian political-social polarization, through a transversal system of reading and data interpretation. Data were collected from three pages and five closed groups on Facebook, between September 2018 and March 2019. The fight against corruption, associated with the climate of fear, uncertainty, and terror, has favored the operation of ideology in the construction of political and moral enemies, justifying speeches of war and destruction found in other periods of Brazilian political history as well. Results show that the spread of fake news on Facebook greatly interfered with the 2018 presidential campaign, not only fomenting hatred against electoral opponents and intensifying intolerance towards alterity, but also strengthening group bonds around an anti-political and nationalist ideology. We observed ideological inversions about the concept of democracy, which reinforced the exacerbation of intolerance until it reached the ultimate form of symbolic violence, represented by utterances of complete elimination of the opposition.
