The measurement of the luteinizing hormone concentration in the peripheral blood is a reliable and exact method used for determining the optimal time for mating. The peak of luteinizing hormone (LH) is a key endocrinological occurrence in the estrus cycle that starts (provokes) ovulation and thereby determines the fertile period. Dogs (females) typically have two estrus cycles per year, in spring and autumn. The elevated seasonal activity during February-May might be induced, among other things, by the environmental factors that stimulate the hypothalamic–hypophyseal–ovarian axis. There are a number of evidences testifying to the fact that adenohypophysis secretion is affected by external or exteroceptive stimuli through the nervous system. This study included a total of 30 dogs (females) in the region of Tuzla whose blood samples we...

Dementia is not a disease but a group of symptoms that may cause different diseases. Symptoms include change of behaviour, character and unexpected changes in the mood. Poor quality of nutrition affects significantly the intensity of dementia. Balanced diet that meets healthy safety standards and requirements will satisfy the needs of an organism for vitamins and minerals and special attention should be given to intake of folic acid, vitamin B12 and minerals zinc and selenium. Intake of omega3 fatty acids is a source of fuel for blood vessels, particularly for the ones of the nervous tissues.

The length of daylight - day and night and annual cyclicality in outside air temperature are pronounced in moderate geographic areas, to which the area of our research, central Bosnia, belongs. Considering that cattle breeders in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina choose the nomadic cattle breeding, the animals involved in the study were in free breeding and exposed to the influence of climatic factors of their environment. Reproduction is relied upon managing follicular development - folliculogenesis, hence it is the same case in the sheep production. Folliculogenesis is a process that takes places in the reproductive chain throughout the year, but the intensity and the dynamics of follicle development vary from season to season. The most intensive development of follicle with ovulation occurs in mating season, when normal hormonal picture is established, with the consequence of establishing sexual cyclicality. In order to have a more clear insight in the development of follicle and the overall situation of the ovaries during the mating season of Dubska pramenka, we studied the development of follicle. Histologic examination of the ovaries showed that the intensity of follicular activity slightly higher on the right ovary in relation to the left, which was reflected in the development of tertiary follicles and corpora lutea.

In order to investigate the effects of different temperature intensities (37°C, 41°C, and 44°C) and exposure time (20 min and until the time of death) on erythrocyte morphology, heat stress was used on a rat model. Thirty-five Wistar rats were divided into three groups: 37°C as control group, 41°C and 44°C as trial groups. The trial groups were classified into antemortem the exposure time of 20 min and postmortem groups exposure time until fatal outcome. The anaesthetised rats were exposed to preheated water using the water bath. May-Grünwald-Giemsa colouring technique was applied on blood samples taken from the abdominal aorta. The light microscopy was performed (Motic Type 102M) to detect poikilocytes. Target cells and anulocytes were predominant in antemortem groups, while anulocytes and spherocytes in postmortem groups 41°C and 44°C, respectively. These birds originated from south-west Africa, where they inhabit a dry, woodland, semi-desert and mountainous areas situated above 1600m of altitude (Radamaker and Corman, 2011). Due to their small size, beautiful colour of the feathers, easy maintenance and breeding, these parrots are often kept in captivity as pets. During the mid-1980s some of these birds escaped from the captivity and established healthy, breeding population (Andreasen et al., 1995) in the area of Phoenix and Arizona (USA). In veterinary practice is well known that birds kept in captivity are highly susceptible for different respiratory diseases. Recently there have been a couple of reports from different veterinary clinics regarding the treatment of respiratory system diseases in these parrots (Cooper et al., 2015; Andreasen et al., 1995; Nakano and Une, 2016). However, in available literature we did not find any data about the anatomy of respiratory system in these parrots. It is well known that the bird's respiratory system is structurally one of the most complex and in terms of functionality, the most efficient among the

These horses are adapted to specific environmental and climatic conditions in the region and their blood parameters might differ from other horse breeds. Blood samples were collected on stud farm “Borike” from 30 clinically healthy adult horses of both gender (16 females and 14 males), aged between two and twenty-three years. Horses were grouped in three age classes: young mature horses (2-6 years, n=10), middle age horses (7-14 years, n=10) and old horses (>14 years, n=10). A total of eleven hematological and twelve biochemical parameters were analyzed. Gender significantly affected LYM (p=0.009), EOS (p=0.016), UREA (p=0.018), P (p=0.028), TBIL (p=0.048) and AMYL (p=0.033) levels.

After sheep shearing, farmers usually leave the wool at the shear sites, providing poorly degradable organic waste. The purchase price of such untreated wool is as low as its quality. By this research, we have tried to draw attention, from another aspect, to the quality of wool fibers of certain parts of the body, which is ultimately very important in the textile industry and in the selection of wool for further processing. The cuticle is made from cornfied cells, flakes, located on the surface of wool fibers. One of the significant roles of the cuticle is the protective. Namely, the cuticle protects the wool fibers from various external factors, whether mechanical or physic-chemical (such as ammonia evaporation in poorly maintained facilities, etc.), which can damage the fleece and thus make it less quality. We have found some differences in the flakes position and sha...

The research study included different parts of the body and the samples of the wool fibers from different regions of the body. Histological description shows difference in the basic structurers of the skin in Dubska pramenka. A very pronounced thin epidermis, while dermis and hypodermis are more developed on the samples from the shoulder. For this research, we examined the glands of 32 laying hens collected at 1, 7, 20 and 40 days and 4, 6, 8 and 12 months of the birds' ages. The research showed that the stroma of the gland contains a large number of lymphocytes and plasma cells. Most of the plasma cells are mature, but morphologically do not show productive activity. Only some individual plasma cells, situated under the secretory epithelium of primary and secondary ducts, have extremely dilated cisternae of rough endoplasmic reticulum which contain moderately dense, granular material. The morphology of these cells indicates that they are in active stage of immunoglobulin production. Also, we identified plasma cells with two types of Russell bodies. One type of these bodies was small, round or oval, while the other had irregular, angular shape. It was noted that one plasma cell never contains both type of Russell bodies at the same time. These cells were often affected by apoptosis. Among them, in deeper part of the stroma, were situated the small plasmablast cells.

Their hormonal role is evident through their receptors and is very important on all of the organs and body systems. Except for the hormonal one, catecholamines also have the role of neurotransmitters. The role of catecholamines is evident in humans and domesticated animals in their digestive system. They strongly support, through their receptors, motility and secretion in stomach and small and large intestine, in a way that they relax i.e. reduce tone of smooth musculature of stomach and bowels. In that way they actively participate in normal maintenance of their homeostasis. There are evident differences in representation and distribution of adrenergic (α and β) receptors in smooth musculature of stomach as well as the small and large intestines of domestic mammals and poultry. Noradrenaline with its activity through αadrenoceptors significantly affects the increase of secretion in gastrointestinal tract. Through β-adrenoceptors, adrenaline affects the decrease of peristaltic movements in both small and large intestine, and, at the same time, decreases tone, i.e. motility in stomach of monogastric, as well as the rumen of polygastric, animals.
