Mobile phones act as vehicles for transmitting pathogenic bacteria due to lack of awareness and widespread use. This study aimed to investigate the bacterial contamination of mobile phones of different categories people at Chattogram city, Bangladesh. During the present study, 40 swab samples were collected from the mobile phones of students, businessmen, fishermen, and hospital patients for the isolation, identification of mobile phone associated bacteria, and their antibiogram. In our study, total viable count (TVC) was performed by the pour plate method and total coliform count (TCC) by the most probable number (MPN) method. Besides these, five selective media were used to isolate pathogenic bacteria from mobile phones and then identified. Continual research is going on worldwide to develop effective, economical and environment-friendly treatment processes while biological treatment is considered the most promising in all aspects. This study aims at the evaluation of textile dye decolourizing capability of naturally occurring fungi. After screening, 4 fungal species identified as Aspergillus fumigatus, A. flavipes, A. luchuensis and Penicillium rubrum from dye effluent were found as potential decolourizer, exhibiting strong to mild decolorization of Novacron dyes viz. Blue FNR, Red FNR, Yellow FN2R, Orange W3R and Navy WB at habitat concentration of 0.05% after 3, 5 and 7 days of co-incubation in Czepex-Dox broth medium. The cellulolytic mesophilic isolate Streptomyces albolongus (A5) was used to determine the effect... more The cellulolytic mesophilic isolate Streptomyces albolongus (A5) was used to determine the effect of nitrogen and carbon sources on the production of cellulolytic enzymes using cellobiose octaacetate (COA) as an inducer. The isolate was able to degrade various cellulosic carbon sources. However, the rate of degradation, production of extracellular protein, reducing sugar, saccharification and production of enzyme were enhanced when 0.6% COA was used as an inducer in addition to the main substrate. Among the nitrogen sources tested, beef extract showed maximum production of the enzyme (136.7 U/ml CMCase) in Winstead's medium. The enzyme production was further enhanced in the medium supplemented with 0.6% COA, which corresponded to 154.69 U/ml CMCase activity.
