While the conventional 2D XY model has only integer vortexes, the generalized 2D XY model has both integer and non-integer 1/q vortexes, making the phase diagram of the generalized 2D XY model is much richer than that of the conventional 2D XY model. Here, we located the phase transition between the disordered phase (P), the quasi-long-range order phase (F), and the nematic phase (N) for the case of q = 3. We provided the numerical evidence to clarify the N−F phase transition of either the first-ordered or second-ordered phase transition. The results showed that the N−F phase transition is the second-ordered, not the first-order phase transition.

An optical mode cross-connect (OMXC) between fundamental modes using multimode interference coupl... more An optical mode cross-connect (OMXC) between fundamental modes using multimode interference coupler MMI with high performance has been proposed in this paper. These basic modes can be transmitted in turn or at the same time toany input and be able to select arbitrary outputs. The following inputs can only select the remaining outputs, so this process will not cause bottlenecks in the circuit. In order for the signals to be flexibly switched to the outputs without conflict, the phase shifters will be used to control their lightpaths. Through the BPM-3D beam propagation method, we have shown the flexible switching process between the input and output ports of the device with insertion loss always smaller than 1.8 dB in the range of wide wavelength from 1.53 µm to 1.565 µm. Specifically, attenuation only reaches -0.5 dB at the central wavelength of 1.55 µm. In addition, the crosstalk is always in a very small range from -44 dB to -24 dB for the entire band considered above. With these ...

The independent-polarization absorption is a significant advantage as well as the simple integrated progress for constituent materials. In particular, absorption can be obtained to be over 90% in a bandwidth of 140 THz (from 608 THz to 748 THz), which is still remained well in the oblique incident angles for the TE-polarization. Our results can be regarded as the groundwork for the near future applications such as photodetectors, energy converters and more.

A list of questionnaire has been given to 83 English-majored students at HUFI, also an interview used for exploring the sources of anxiety. The outcome shows that the correlation between anxiety and leaning a foreign language or English is considerably negative. The research also suggests some classroom activities which teachers can use to support her students to get rid of their anxieties in learning a second language.<br>

Acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND), formerly called early mortality syndrome (EMS), ... more Acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND), formerly called early mortality syndrome (EMS), was first reported in 2010 among penaeid shrimps cultivated in the Mekong Delta Region of Viet Nam albeit without any laboratory confirmation. The disease subsequently spread to a wide range of shrimp production areas in the same region (Soc Trang: 1,719 ha; Bac Lieu: 346 ha; and Ca Mau: 3,493 ha), so that the Government of Viet Nam requested for technical assistance from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in 2011. In 2012, FAO supported Viet Nam through the project TCP/VIE/3304 Emergency assistance to control the spread of an unknown disease affecting shrimps in Viet Nam, under which the Department of Animal Health of Viet Nam (DAH) collaborated with the University of Arizona and FAO experts to carry out indepth studies to identify the etiologic agent of the disease. As a result, unique isolates of Vibrio parahaemolyticus was identified as the causative ag...
English Language programs that seek to offer learners adequate English skills and translate strat... more English Language programs that seek to offer learners adequate English skills and translate strategies to conduct in multilingual environments include translation and interpretation. However, translating effectively is not a simple task because English language skills are not the only factor to consider; other factors also play a role. Owing to their poor language proficiency and comprehension of translation methods, many HUFI English-majored students have no experience with translation and interpretation. Therefore, this paper looked at how HUFI English-majored students approach translation and interpretation tasks and how successful those translated versions are in relation to the original Vietnamese documents. The results showed many incorrect translated items caused by “word-by-word” translation or meta-phrase technique and the influence of the Vietnamese language on two translated texts and talks from ten participants. Teachers of translation and interpretation subjects and stu...

We used a dataset consisting of four data years, from 2014 to 2017, of A-share companies listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE). The concept of green innovation refers to the use of advancements in technology that enable savings in energy, along with the recycling of waste material. When advanced technology is utilized in the production process, the products are referred to as green products and the whole process of adopting such technologies and product design is referred to as “Corporate Environmental Management”. Such innovations improve the overall financial performance of companies as it enables them to improve their social image by reducing their carbon footprint and ensures their long-term sustainability. The main issue is the limited focus and attention given to the topic, from t...

Electrokinetic and electroosmotic couplings can play important roles in water and ions transport ... more Electrokinetic and electroosmotic couplings can play important roles in water and ions transport in charged porous media. Electroosmosis is the phenomena explaining the water movement in a porous medium subjected to an electrical field. In this work, a new model is obtained through a new up-scaling procedure, considering the porous medium as a bundle of tortuous capillaries of fractal nature. From the model, the expressions for the electroosmosis pressure coefficient, the relative electroosmosis pressure coefficient, the maximum back pressure, the maximum flow rate, the flow rate-applied back pressure relation and the product of the permeability and formation factor of porous media are also obtained. The sensitivity of the relative electroosmosis pressure coefficient is then analyzed and explained. The model predictions are then successfully compared with published datasets. Additionally, we deduce an expression for the relative streaming potential coefficient and then compare it with a previously published model and experimental data from a dolomite rock sample. We find a good agreement between those models and experimental 2 data, opening up new perspectives to model electroosmotic phenomena in porous media saturated with various fluids.

The dependence of the streaming coupling coefficient on water saturation remains highly debated in both theoretical and experimental works. In this work, we propose a physically based model for the streaming potential coupling coefficient in porous media during the flow of water and air under partially saturated conditions. The proposed model is linked to fluid electrical conductivity, water saturation, irreducible water saturation, and microstructural parameters of porous materials. In particular, the surface conductivity of porous media has been taken into account in the model. In addition, we also obtain an expression for the characteristic length scale at full saturation in this work. The proposed model is successfully validated using experimental data from literature. A relationship between th...

We conducted a series of retrospective and prospective studies to characterize the epidemiology of dengue and population mobility patterns in Nha Trang city, Vietnam, with a view to rational design of trials of community-level interventions. A 10-year time series of dengue case notifications showed pronounced interannual variability, as well as spatial heterogeneity in ward-level dengue incidence (median annual coefficient of variation k = 0.47). Of 451 children aged 1-10 years enrolled in a cross-sectional serosurvey, almost one-third had evidence of a past dengue virus (DENV) infection, with older children more likely to have a multitypic response indicative of past exposure to ≥ 1 serotype. All four DENV serotypes were detected in hospitalized patients during 8 months of sampling in 2015. Mobility data collected from 1,000 children and young adults via prospective travel diaries showed that, although all ages spent approximately half of their daytim...

The methods are based on both the extragradient-type method and the viscosity approximation method. We obtain weak convergence theorems for the sequences generated by these methods in a real Hilbert space.

Forty components that accounted for 87.9% of the oil composition have been identified. The composition is dominated by nootkatene (20.7%), 11,12,13-tri-nor-eremophil-1(10)-en-7-one (17.2%), γ-eudesmol (5.1%), nootkatone (4.7%), valencene (3.5%) and 13-nor-eremophil-1(10)-en-11-one (2.6%). The structure of two new compounds-10-epi-nor-γ-eudesmen-11-one and 12-hydroxy-isodihydroagarofuran-has been elucidated, while 11,12,13-tri-nor-eremophil-1(10)-en-7-ol is reported as a natural product for the first time. The composition of X. vietnamensis wood oil varied drastically from those of leaf oils, dominated by hedycaryol (34.4%), phyllocladene (37.8%) or by pimara-6(14)-15-diene (19.4%).

The spiritual healing of len đong is seen as the good work of spirit mediums who save themselves, their families, and their patients from personal suffering and yin illness. Yin illness can be caused by a variety of cultural patterns of meaning such as sacrilege, ghost possession, or mediumship. Analyzing the causes and the cures of the yin illness, this article implies the deep sense of obligation many Viet people feel toward tending their dead and ancestors and serving the spirits of the Mother Goddess religion (Đao Mâu). Thus, the illness and healing are set within relation- ships between the living and the dead and between the adherents and the spirits, and are embodied in the folk belief system of the Viet.

Few prospective studies of child growth and its determinants take place in programmatic contexts.... more Few prospective studies of child growth and its determinants take place in programmatic contexts. We evaluated the effect of Save the Children's (SC) community empowerment and nutrition program (CENP) on child growth, care, morbidity, empowerment, and behavioral determinants. This paper describes the research methods of this community-based study. We used a longitudinal, prospective, randomized design. We selected 12 impoverished communes with documented child malnutrition, three comparison, and three intervention communes in each of two districts in Phu Tho Province, west of Hanoi. SC taught district trainers in November 1999 to train local health volunteers to implement the 10-month CENP, including situation analysis, positive deviance (PD) inquiry, growth monitoring and promotion, nutrition education and rehabilitation program (NERP), deworming, and monitoring. PD inquiries aim to discover successful care practices in poor households that likely promote well-nourished childre...
