Methods: The dried samples of root, leaves, stem and whole plant were analysed for protein, total fat, ash, moisture, water activity and crude fibre according to guideline by Association of Official Analytical Chemist. The phytochemicals content were based on standard method. Results: The proximate analysis showed that the leaves contain the highest moisture (9.49%), ash (12.83%) and protein (23.98%). The root contains the highest carbohydrate (76.33%), crude fibre (42.05%) and gross energy (1453.94 kJ) content. The root also showed the lowest total fat (0.54+0.17%) and water activity (0.51+0.00 A w ) . Besides that, the secondary metabolite such as alkaloid was identified in dried whole plant while tannin was detected in dried leaves and dried whole plant. The triterpenes, steroid and flavonoids were a presence in all samples analysed. Conclusion: The present of nutrition...

Futile to coordinate shall contribute to road traffic accidents. Objective; This study aims to describe the mobile phone usage behaviour while driving among educated young adults. Methods; A cross sectional study was conducted among student in Klang Valley and their participation was on voluntary basis. Results & conclusion; 66.6% of the participants used a mobile phone while driving where male drivers more often to use it on urban road. Results from this study can inform policy maker to design specific campaigns to minimise this unsafe behaviour.

This may lead the population to be exposed to the radiation. Therefore, the environmental radiation needs to be observed cautiously to minimize the impact of radiation. However, there is no specific or proper monitoring device that provides an outdoor environmental radiation monitoring. Hence, a new outdoor environmental radiation monitoring device was developed. A photographic film has been chosen as a dosimeter. The purpose of this study was to prove the covered photographic film attached with variable filter can be used to develop environmental radiation monitoring device to detect the ionising radiation. The filter used was variable thickness of plastic, aluminium (Al) and lead (Pb). The result from the study showed that the mean optical density (OD) values for medium speed film are in the range 0.41 to 0.73...

Several parameters were identified including pH, total soluble solid (TSS), titratable acidity (TA), sugar-acid-ratio (TSS:TA), ash and calcium composition at different concentrations and conditions of belimbing dayak juice. The conditions are juices without addition of sugar and juices added with sugar. These juices were prepared at concentrations of low (LC), medium (MC) and high (HC). The highest pH was observed in LC added with sugar (3.43) while the lowest pH can be detected at HC with sugar (3.03). The TSS value vary widely where the highest TSS value for juices without sugar was 1.05°Brix while for the juices with sugar the highest TSS value was 7.95°Brix. TA readings pattern was observed to be increase as the concentration increasing for both conditions. From the analysis of ash, the content for both conditions are the same where t...

The aim of this study was conducted to determine the proximate composition (moisture, ash, crude protein, total fat, dietary fiber and total carbohydrate) of four Malaysian honey samples. Methods: TB1 (Trigona bee honey from Kedah), TB2 (Trigona bee honey from Kelantan), TU1 (Wild Tualang bee honey from Pahang) and TU2 (Tualang bee honey was collected from a farm from Pahang) were examined for their proximate compositions. Proximate composition was determined using the methods of AOAC (1990; 1995; 2003). Results: Moisture content was significantly the highest (p<0.05) in TB2 with a value of 30.586± 0.109 g/100g and the lowest in TU2 with a value of 18.914± 0.264 g/100g. TB2 had significantly (p < 0,05) higher ash content than other examined samples with a value of 0.766±0.010 g/100g. Protein content of TU1was significantly higher than the other analyzed honey samples with a...

Fruits images are captured using digital camera inclined at different angles to the horizontal. Segmentation is used for the classification of the preprocessed images into two non-overlapping clusters from which shape boundary and signatures are estimated using FD and SDA technique. Furthermore, color information obtained from the extracted red-green-blue color components of the fruits images during ANN training process is used in accurately detecting the color of such a fruit. The two independent paths are then combined for fruits sorting and identification purposes. The performance of the developed hybrid system has been evaluated at three different angles of camera inclination from which an accuracy of 99.1% was obtained.
