The synthesis of metabolites and bioactive compounds are the most affected, along with the quality of the onion bulbs However, it is necessary to know the effects of different water levels and nitrogen fertilization to optimize the quality of the onion. The objective of this research was to study the effects of the different conditions of hydric stress and nitrogen fertilization during the development of onion (Allium cepa L.) crop, regarding its physicochemical and bioactive properties. Onions were grown using four available irrigation regimes (25, 50, 75 and 100%) and four doses of nitrogen fertilization (100, 150, 200 and 250 kg N ha−1). Onion without any treatment was considered as a control. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of temperature on the bioactive components of samples of aqueous extracts of hops with different characteristics. A central compound rotating design model was used in order to obtain optimal conditions of temperature and extract concentration to inhibit Fusarium oxysporum and Alternaria solani. At intermediate temperatures according to the design of experiments, significant effects on antifungal activity were observed. The optimal conditions with antifungal activity were at a concentration of 160 mg/mL and a temperature of 65 °C to obtain mycelial diameters ≤ 25 mm. The bioactive compounds were shown in the FT-IR spectrum after each heat treatment of both samples; significant changes were observed in the bands between 2786 to 3600 cm−1 and 1022 to 1729 cm−1. Feathers are the most prevalent agricultural waste generated by chicken farms, polluting the envi... more Feathers are the most prevalent agricultural waste generated by chicken farms, polluting the environment and wasting protein resources as a result of the accumulation of large amounts of feathers. Therefore, keratinase-producing microorganisms represent a promising potential technique for the degradation of feather waste. Streptomyces netropsis A-ICA and Bacillus subtilis ALICA, previously isolated from the rhizosphere of desert plants (Larrea tridentata and Prosopis juliflora) respectively, were assessed for their feather-degradation ability. Keratinase activity was optimized using various parameters, including incubation time, pH, temperature, and feather concentration. The maximum keratinase activity of S. netropsis A-ICA and B. subtilis ALICA (113.6 ± 5.1 and 135.6 ± 4.1 U/mL) was obtained at the 5th and 3rd day of incubation with initial pH of 7.0 and 7.5 at 25 and 30 °C, and 1% (w/v) of chicken feather, respectively. Para tal fin, se determina por triplicado la capacidad antagónica mediante la confrontación dual con hongos fitopatógenos, la viabilidad celular usando la técnica de dilución en serie en medio de cultivo; así como la revisión del cumplimiento de los criterios de criterios de rotulación de etiqueta con base a la normativa mexicana en los productos: Bioben, T-22, Funqui, Agroderma, Bio-Tilis, Enerbac, Fus-Out y Bacillus 1537. Los resultados mostraron que los productos Agroderma, Bacillus 1537 y Fus-Out, no presentaron registro sanitario. In the present study we report a modified sodium dodecyl sulfate/phenol protocol that includes elimination of liquid nitrogen in maceration process, β-mercaptoethanol in buffer extraction and ethanol precipitation step. The A260/280 absorbance ratios of isolated DNA were around 2.0 to 1.9, suggesting that the DNA fraction was pure and may be used for further PCR analysis. The DNA isolated by this protocol is of sufficient quality for molecular applications; this technique could be applied to other organisms that have similar substances that hinder DNA extraction. Salinity of soil in arid and semiarid regions is a problem that affects the production and qualit... more Salinity of soil in arid and semiarid regions is a problem that affects the production and quality of fruit. That’s while we evaluated grafting on watermelon plants as an alternative to reduce the salinity effects. The experimental design was of randomized blocks, three treatments (cultivars Sangria, Summer Flavor 800 and Summer Flavor 840) with three repetitions. The cultivars were evaluated in grafted and ungrafted condition. The rootstock used for grafting was the interspecific hybrid Strong Tosa (C. maxima x C. moschata). In average terms for the three cultivars, grafting increased commercial production, weight, length and diameter of fruits in 160.5%, 36.5%, 12.0% and 7.5%, respectively. Sangria presented the best answer in production with 57.1 t ha-1, weight 5.8 kg, length 35.0 cm and diameter 17.8 cm of fruits.
