Dental factors Overall, the development of the COS is likely due to a combination of factors including dental eruption timing, craniofacial variation, and neuromuscular factors. [3] Perhaps the mandibular molars and incisors are permitted to erupt beyond the original occlusal plane due to the fact that they erupt earlier than their maxillary antagonist and are, therefore, unopposed. [3] Dentition stage The occlusal plane is flat in the complete deciduous dentition. During the transition into mixed dentition, increases largely with the eruption of the central incisors and first permanent molars, and finally reaches a maximum with the eruption of the permanent second molars where it remains stable throughout adolescence and into adulthood. Mesiodens in the premaxilla is the most commonly occurring supernumerary tooth. It is usually clinical in form. The following case reported with erupted supernumerary tooth. The consequences and management has been discussed in elaborate details.

It is associated with a reduction of oral health-related quality-of-life, has an impact on psychological well-being, and leads to various physiological problems. Children or adults with AI express varying degree of malocclusions either in the form of crowding, impacted teeth, spacing, retained teeth, reduced vertical height due to abnormal tooth structure or undue tooth loss. Orthodontic treatment should precede esthetic rehabilitation. Proper diagnosis of the case is quintessential to provide durable functional and esthetic result to these patients, improving the quality of their lives. We present a case of interdisciplinary management for restoring function and esthetics in a patient with hereditary AI of the hypoplastic type accompanied with tooth impaction and some other dental anomalies.

The physico-chemical properties of saliva are aff ected by the local factors in the oral cavity and general health of an individual. Orthodontic treatment signifi cantly aff ects the chemical composition and physical nature of oral fl uids. The alteration in the properties of saliva can be utilized to evaluate the advent of orthodontics treatment in an individual. The present article focuses on the relevance of the physic-chemical properties of saliva during the progression of orthodontic treatment and the signifi cance of saliva as a diagnostic analyte during orthodontic treatment.
Patient with good facial esthetics require extractions to reach a stable and functional occlusion... more Patient with good facial esthetics require extractions to reach a stable and functional occlusion can be categorized as a borderline case. It may also be defined as the case caught in between the conflict of extraction and nonextraction. Empirical evidence of uncertainty exists with these patients. Borderline cases may also have an absence of dental or craniofacial anomalies, permanent dentition, healthy periodontium and normal anteroposteriorly relationship between maxilla and mandible. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to describe criteria, which should be kept in mind before deciding to go for extraction or nonextraction treatment in borderline cases.

This case report describes treatment of compound odontoma in a twenty-year-old male presented to a postgraduate orthodontic clinic with chief complaint of space with respect to upper jaw on right side. Radiographically, a compound odontoma was present, which has resulted in failure of eruption of the permanent upper right central incisor. A sequential approach of surgical removal of odontome, surgical exposure and orthodontic traction of the impacted tooth with closed eruption technique resulted in proper incisor positioning. Close monitoring and interdisciplinary management during the treatment led to a successful esthetic result, with good periodontal health and functional occlusion
