The design of this research was quasy-experimental design. The population of this research was the eighth grade students of SMPN Satu Atap Lontoi in the academic year of 2014/2015. This research used purposive sampling technique in getting the sample of 26 students at the eighth grade. This research was started by giving pre-test, treatments in four meetings, and post-test. Meanwhile, in collecting the data, the researcher used multiple choices test. The data of the test were analyzed by using t-test formula. By the count the average of the pre-test and post-test, the percentage of the students' improvement was 12, 8 %. Then, the result of the t-test was 14. 79 and t list was 2.06. It means that t cout was 14,79 t list was 2,06. Thus, t cout is largest than t list and it can be formulated 14. 79 ≥ 2,06 with the degree of freedom = (n -1) = (26 -1) = 25 at the level significance α = 0,05. It means that the hypothesis of this research is accepted. Based on the research conducted, it was proved that the use of semantic mapping strategy can effect significantly the students' mastery of vocabulary at the eighth students of SMP N Satu Atap Lontoi in academic year of 2014/2015.
