George Washington Bridge Plaza, also known as GWB Plaza or Bridge Plaza, is the section of Fort Lee, New Jersey, United States, at the western terminus and toll plaza of the George Washington Bridge.[1] Located north of and parallel to Main Street, it bisects the northern part of the borough. The surrounding busy area is characterized by a mix of commercial and residential uses and an architectural variety that includes parking lots, strip malls, houses, gas stations, mid-rise office buildings and high-rise condominiums. Just to the east is Fort Lee Historic Park, Palisades Interstate Park and the bridge tower.

Roadways

The series of streets overlooks the lower vehicular cut through the Hudson Palisades where several major roads converge for the toll plazas[2] for the Hudson River crossing. The streets, which are above the cut, are individually named for the points of the compass and either run parallel to or pass over it. The expressways carry the designations of the New Jersey Turnpike, Interstate 95, U.S. Route 1/9, and U.S. Route 46. The marginal roads running alongside it are called Bridge Plaza North and Bridge Plaza South, the latter bearing the newer name of Bruce Reynolds Boulevard. Traveling on separate overpasses are Route 67, known as Bridge Plaza East, and the section of Center Avenue called Bridge Plaza West. The expressways and their local street entrances/exits at Bridge Plaza and the aforementioned section of Route 67 are under the jurisdiction of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which also manages the bridge.[3][4] In the immediate vicinity are interchanges with US Route 9W, N.J. Route 4, and the Palisades Interstate Parkway.

Transit hub

Bridge Plaza is a busy transit hub, served by several New Jersey Transit bus lines serving Bergen, Hudson, and Passaic counties and Manhattan. Rockland Coaches travels to destinations in Bergen, Rockland, and Manhattan. Spanish Transportation is one of man companies providing guagua, or jitney, service along the busy Bergenline-Anderson Avenue and New Jersey Route 4 corridors and across the bridge.
