Henry Matías Mier Codina (born 2 August 1990) is an Uruguayan footballer that currently plays for Chilean Primera División club Rentistas on loan from Universidad Católica as a left midfielder.

Club career

Peñarol

On 3 June 2011 he scored a crucial away goal in a Copa Libertadores semi final clash against Vélez Sársfield of Argentina, although Peñarol were defeated on the night 2-1 they progressed to the final on the away goals rule as the game was tied 2-2 on aggregate over the two legs after they had won the 1st leg 1-0 in Uruguay a week prior. He also helped his club Peñarol reach the final of the Copa Libertadores 2011 in where they lost 2-1 in a match between Santos F.C. from Brazil.

On 18 July 2011, was reported that Mier would join to Argentine Primera División club Racing Club for the next season, because the coach of Avellaneda's side Diego Simeone are heavy interested in him, after of the high financial claims of Mariano González and his agent.[1]

Universidad Católica

On 20 July 2011, Mier joined Chilean Primera División club Universidad Católica, signing a three-year contract with the club, that will keep him at San Carlos until 2014.[2][3] On 22 July, was officially presented at his new club during a press conference.[4] He made his Primera División debut against Deportes Iquique,[5] and his first goal came on 13 August in a 4–0 win over Unión La Calera.[6]
