SET's programming is targeted towards family audiences. The programming covers genres including drama, reality, comedy, thriller, horror, Bollywood, and live events.

In October 2011, Sony Entertainment Television had risen to the number 2 ranking position for six weeks, due in part to the ratings of Kaun Banega Crorepati.[3]
