The beautiful thing is that so long as any phone in America has power, 9-1-1 will work. No service needed and it basically super powers signal.
Bonus fact: Even if you're in another country, and don't know the countries emergency number, you can still dial your own countries emergency number and the phone line will assume you're trying to reach an emergency service and redirect your call.
