Another race sheet drawn by refinedsalt this time of Ixen's race, garnet dragons! Been a long while coming to finally get them drawn. Red below for a description on them~ --- Once one of the most powerful species to walk the planet, Garnet dragons now exist a shadow of their former glory, serving only as an example to what happens to any race that attempts to face off against the empire of the Emeralds first hand. Garnet dragons were the forerunners of a world where magic and technology came together as one, but after a long war serving as the final defense against the emeralds world conquest, that history has long since been lost.
Garnet dragons are bipedal, standing at an average height of 1.4 meters and as a jewel dragon, live for around 200 years. Garnet dragons are typically brownish in color, have long, thick tails that form into the rest of their body along with short, stout legs at the base. They have long arms that end in burgundy claws along the hands, with a matching set of claws at the feet. Their mouths are wide with powerful jaws, short snouts and sharp teeth. Soft scales sag along the neck, and further down still sits the garnet gemstone within their chest that the race is named after. Some variants may sport more of them elsewhere on their body, typically along the spine, on the forehead or at the tip of the tail. Unlike other dragon races, garnet dragons lack hair or fur of any kind anywhere on their body, being covered in a thick layer of scales all throughout. There are currently no other known affinities other than dragon/energy.
Garnet dragons are, out of all races, the most balanced in terms of ability, being able to use might or magic effectively, though never being the best at either. This gives the race fair social standing, allowing them to serve in any position within society while avoiding the social stigma that Amber dragons, Raunikayle and Anki deal with on a regular basis.
Garnet dragons are the most common race in Edarel, with the ability to adapt and live almost anywhere. Housing towns along the fertile grasslands of Charir, Garnet dragons are a race defined by their need to prove themselves to others. Loud, dynamic, outgoing and competitive, Garnet dragons are the most vocal of all races to exist, demanding that their presence be known and to never look down on them. Determination fueled by the devastating loss from years past, their desire to always prove themselves always puts them in the spotlight of any major events, good or bad. This fervent nature brings ire to other races who are more reserved such as Amber and Pearl dragons, while also being a point of intense friction with the overly controlling Kethana. Emerald dragons however tend to prefer this attitude, rarely looking down upon the race. Thanks to this, the Garnet dragons live comfortably as a race in mid standing across the world.
Garnet dragons are by and large, the smartest race to exist on the planet when it comes to ingenuity and development, being the forerunners of many of the world's first items and professions such as boats, metalwork and large scale buildings. This ingenuity served to help streamline the world of magical control, but in the process caused much of their inventions to become forgotten as years passed. As it stands, Garnet dragons are still the front runners in terms of magical engineering and construction, having been the ones to advance and popularize the knowledge of using magical equipment such as teleporters and shield bracelets.
