I think he should do it, and if he wakes up say that you like him. If he likes you back, then he'll smile. If he doesn't then he'll ask, "Do you mean like-like?" And if you feel so bold, you might even tell him.

He should definitely hug, and not be embarrassed. Over the pictures you've drawn he's been such a good friend to Arturo. I can image he'd never hurt Arturo, never tease him, never walk away when he had a problem, ALWAYS be there for him... It was meant to be... ;-)
