Thanks, effects are tricky as you want enhance your image and draw your eyes to right spots, but you don't want to go total J.J. and overwhelm the artwork as well.

I understand, didn't think you were saying that ether. I was just stating my stance on the idea doing porn of NIMH, just in case others thought of asking me to do some. My fragmented sentences don't help much ether.

Same here. I actually read the book first, I think. Either way, they were both amazing. Don Bluth did an awe-inspiring job on the animation, especially the effects of the Amulet.

Same with me. The Secret of NIMH is by far my favorite Bluth film, and I would even go so far as to say it's my favorite animated film. Nicodemus was the picture of 'mystical', and Mrs. Brisby was heartwarmingly adorable. And of course her interactions with Justin were cute, and I could already tell they would get together later (in my head, anyway, they just made such an adorable couple).

When I was younger I use to think the same thing Justin and Mrs. Brisby. Looking back I see that their relationship is strictly platonic . His interaction with her one of respect and politeness. The charm he does show to her is side of him that he shows almost to everyone. Which is good thing I think, I'm glad they didn't force a romantic interest into the movie.
There also few instances that kinda prove that Justin isn't necessary the perfect nice guy that everyone thinks he is, but I won't go into that unless your interested.

I'm glad they didn't insert him as an obvious romantic interest, either, it would've ruined the atmosphere for me. They had just met, after all, and wouldn't have the time to develop something like that between each other. I still see Justin as a romantic interest for her, though, just later down the road after they've gotten to know each other better. You can tell (or at least, I can see it in the film) where she's starting to like him as a friend, and the same with him towards her, so my mind just takes it farther. I have it where, after she's moved her home and everything's settled, Justin helps her out with things at her home (helps her get settled in, helps her find her way around the area, tells her stories of Jonathan, etc) and over the course of that the two fall in love.
And I know he isn't a perfect nice guy, but that's what makes him seem so good as an interest for her. Justin's trying to deal with his problems and make up for his past mistakes, and I think that - coupled with his romantic and chivalrous personality - makes him a good guy for her.

This is...absolutely fantastic, that is one of the best things you've ever drawn! Damn it looks so like a still from the movie but it still shows your own style in her face. Brilliant, I love this.

Were you going for a Don Bluth imitation style? It looks like it, to me. The coloring and shading (compared to your other works) gives me that impression.
If so, it worked very well. If not, I convinced myself pretty well.
Either way, this is a really good scene. I love the glow lighting up the air, like she's in a fog or mist.

Kinda. I while I wanted to draw the character so she was recognizable, I made sure to put my own style and spin in there as well. Coloring wise I went water coloring style and tried to keep the tone soft and dark.

She wasn't the first one I imagined/day dreamed about being(I think that would be Sarah from Land Before Time), but Brisby was a big one I imagined myself being as a kid.

Most of me would rather see a picture like this one.. only because of all childhood movies... I don't know... I've seen pron of Land Before Time, but it still remains one I wish to see mostly in an innocent light ^_^;;;... Hard to explain I guess. But that's me... if you do draw something I just wish you all the fun in doing so =3. Whatever it may be.
By the way, what's your first? Secret of NIMH? American Tail(I love this one too ^_^;... I imagined myself as Fievel's sister in dreams too... surprising my fursona isn't a mouse all things considering =P)? All Dogs Go to Heaven?

I've seen most Bluth's films at least all ones considered is good ones. I honestly can't remember which one I saw first, but NIMH is only I own, and is hands down my favorite of his.
