Lauren Jansen | DIY on Instagram: "Fireplace Makeover! I wanted our fireplace to feel softer - with more of an old world feel. It’s always felt a little unfinished to me! So I grabbed a bunch of mortar, a grout bag, and started filling the gaps! At first I filled the gaps with mortar, then went over the mortar with a damp sponge to smooth it out and push it into the gaps. But as it dried, I realized it definitely needed a second coat! This time, I just used my hands to smear it on before I smoothed it over the stone with my sponge. Once it was dry, I primed everything then painted it Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore in a matte finish! I almost went with another coat of mortar, but I’m glad I didn’t because I LOVE THIS!
