IKEA is probably your home's best friend. Its father, Feodor Ingvar Kamprad, founded the company in 1943 when he was only 17. Even the iconic yellow-blue logo is an acronym, composed of his initials paired with the first letter of Elmtaryd, the name of the farm where he grew up, and Aggunaryd, his Swedish hometown. To become a retail giant with over 43 billion dollars in revenue that it is today, IKEA focused on cost control, operational details, and continuous product development.

Called BILLY, an one-off online archive sale of discontinued vintage IKEA products — happening this Thursday — is the brainchild of artist Harry Stayt, whose interest in IKEA began five years ago when researching the sculptural possibilities of modular and flat-pack furniture at Camberwell College of Arts.

There is some pretty great stuff at IKEA. But it’s hard not to be jealous of IKEA shoppers from the 70s and 80s when you see some of the amazing stuff that used to line the retailer’s shelves. Here are eleven favorite vintage pieces that we’d love to see make a comeback.
