The Concrete Ship Atlantus

One of a number of concrete ships built during World War 1 due to a shortage of steel. The war ended before they were put in service but they were used to transport troops home. The Atlantus was sold to be used as a part of a wharf for a ferry in the 1920's and was moored off of Cape May, NJ when it broke loose and ran aground during a bad storm. Efforts to free it were in vain, and so it has sat nearly a century, slowly being reclaimed by the ocean.
